  1. Hi Caroline,

I posted on your last clinic about how sore and red my skin is and you asked me to email you a pic. I sent pics by email to you last week did you receive this?

    Thank you Lisa

    1. Define red bumps? Could be an allergy. Could be stress, Could be eczema. Could be the product. Gotta picture?

  3. What sun protection range would you recommend? What about Institut Esthederm? Thank you!

    1. IE builds up your resistance before you go in the sun. So people either LOVE or HATE it. :) I can't be bothered personally. I like good old fashioned SPF. I use Hampton Sun (SpaceNK) but they ARE mates. (Full disclosure) ;)

    1. Mine are SHOCKING at the moment having had shellac and gels for months. I'm using a Nailtiques 'After Artificial' treatment at the moment. BUT - if your nails are just genetically weak etc? Zinc and calcium/magnesium supplements may help.

    2. Nail Magic is very good

    3. Hi there, I'm having troubles too and starting Biotin supplements at the suggestion of Dr. Oz. The best natural sources of biotin are soybeans (not soy milk) and swiss chard -- adding those to my diet too!

  5. Hi- thanks do much for doing this! I suffer from eczema and have dry patches on eyelids- can you recommend an eye cream? Currently using origins plantscription however not sure how much difference it's making! Also suffer on my neck too- any suggestions for this too please? Thank you so much! Xxx

    1. Hi Anon!

How old are you? Zelens have a new neck cream that is amazing - look that up - SpaceNK.

I love Origins but I would say be careful with the essential oil content. Look up Monu Collagen Eye Cream - very nice, affordable and not too heavy.

  6. Hi caroline, I'm only 24 but I already have quite visible lines from dehydration. Is there anything you can recommend that's good for a dehydrated skin. Other than that it's quite normal though no dryness or oil. Currently
I'm using liz Earle c&p and their toner, and Chanel hydra beauty cream, I also exfoliate with Sisley buffing cream! I drink so much water although my diets maybe not as good as it could be! Thank you

    1. If your skin is 'normal' its actually slightly harder to give you products for the dehydration - I will say this - out of those 3 - its probably the C&P that is not helping. Try a new cleanser first - and go from there. And supplement!!!

  7. Hi Caroline, I've got a quick question for you. I've noticed you don't really mention Sysley or La Prairie on your blog while they seem to be very popular and 'highly ranked' over here so I thought I'd ask what you opinion is on these brands - are they any good? worth the money? Thank you!

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. I actually love both and have reviews coming up for La Prairie - I don't tend to blog a LOT about high end brands because of the current economic climate - I don't want my (wonderful) readers to think I only use really high-end and that only high-end will get results. Its different for me - I don't have to pay for a lot of product - my readers do. BUT - I would say this - if you have any requests for particular products please do let me know - I love a lot from both ranges.
      I hope that makes sense?

  8. Hi Caroline

I am going to have a hysterectomy in the next 8 weeks and having the lot whipped out and I will have to go onto HRT. My skin is currently very well behaved and happy. How should I alter my skincare routine and what changes should I expect d'you think. I'm 44 and can't find much info online. Hope you can advise.

    1. Your skin may go a little 'crazy' for a while but its hard to say - are you having your ovaries removed too? If so your hormones will change dramatically and you will need to use appropriate skincare. I would use good, high quality skincare - don't worry about the natural - we will need all the help we can get. :) And please let me know how you get on once it happens - best of luck for the op.

  9. Hello! I need your advice on what moisturiser to use. Since working at a cafe my skin has become very clogged, I am getting those little bumps under the skin which either turn into a small whitehead or just linger. What would be the best cream to use? One with spf would be great as I am rather pale. Also, should I steam my face to get rid or reduce these little blackhead bumps? I have sensitive combination skin and am 22. Thank you!

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. OK you say cafe - do you mean a cafe that fries food? If so that's your problem.
If you are using an SPF and working in that environment you MUST double cleanse every night with a good cleanser. If you are sensitive I wouldn't steam - I would clay mask instead.

      Delete
    2. I'm using Dermalogica's special cleansing gel, would you recommend this or something else? Also, I am completely stuck with what moisturisers to use both day and night time, I always seem to find lanolin or parfum in a product which can irritate skin. Thank you though!! :)

      Delete
    3. Oh yes sorry, lots of frying! I essentially steam my face with grease, it is not so nice x

      Delete
    4. The frying is the problem. Grease is literally sticking to your face. Try Caudalie Elixir while you're at work. And pick a moisturiser that is highly siliconed - not what I would normally say but it MAY form a barrier - like Clarins Hydra Quench range.

      Delete
    5. Thank you!! Just purchased Caudalie Elixir :)

  10. Eye creams please - cannot seem to get it right. I know I cannot eliminate my inherited awnings for eyelids, and I know that 30+ years of putting on and taking off eyemakeup has contributed to my eyelids looking worn out and a bit reddened and rough around the edges, but I feel as if my eyes need a bit of pampering. They can be a tad puffy am, and I think the dark circles are hyperpigmentation/hormonal as they have appeared in the last 5yrs or so. Happy to spend. Not urgent though happy to wait for a response xx

    1. Hello lovely! Sounds like me. :)

I have batwings for eyelids - age eh? What a bastard. LOL

The two things that have helped me: using a smaller amount of eye cream - I have ALWAYS used too much. At the moment I am using either, Monu - as above, Zelens Triple Acion or Sjal Orbe Eye Contour.
      BUT.
The biggest difference has been made by drinking litres - and I mean litres of sparkling water. Normal water doesn't cut it for me - I can drink a 2 litre bottle of Tesco's finest and look considerably less puffy the next day. Bible.

      Delete
    2. Thankyou Caroline - I was loving it until I got to the bit about water, bummer I am carp at drinking water. But when the mouth speaks one knows to listen and obey :) xx

      Delete
    3. Try fizzy. Although it can have a higher sodium level - not ideal for puffy eyes - the benefits outweigh the neg. it's replaced all fizzy drinks for me.

  11. What do you think of Balance Hyaluronic 554 youth serum?

    1. The hyaluronic acid is too far down the inci list to warrant the bother. Hydraluron looks more interesting to me.

  12. I'd love to know if you have any recommendations for a good anti-ageing eye cream. Main concerns are crepey lids & lines.

Puffiness & shadows not big issues, though wouldn't complain if they were addressed too!

    Am same age as you.

    Thank you, Nic x

    1. Ah now fair maiden remember I have seen you in the flesh! :) I would say you are dehydrated. To address the eyes straight away try Monu Collagen Eye Cream - its what I use when my eyes are going 'HELLLPPP MMMEEEEE'. You're not puffy or shadowy. Gorgeous though. :)

  13. I live in a hot and humid climate. Should I be concerned about ordering skincare online and having it shipped to me? Sometimes things come in the mail melted, or "sweating", and I was wondering how bad it is for the product to be in the heat.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. the only issue would be balm products that liquefy at higher temperatures - everything else should be fine.

      Delete
    2. My EH balm was Mostly liquid when it came to me. Did that damage it (make it less effective?)

      Delete
    3. Did you put it in the fridge? Once solid again it will be ok x

      Delete
    4. Yes, thank you. So Alpha H products and P50 would be ok if exposed to heat for a long period of time? Thinking about ordering and Florida gets HOT in the summer.

      Delete
    5. they'll be ok for delivery - BR is in NY so that wouldn't be a problem. Just keep them in the coldest part of the house - and in your summers? I'd be tempted by the fridge!

      Delete
  14. Last clinic you recommended the regular P50 for my combination, congested skin. However, I noticed in your first blogpost you said that if you are a 'newbie' to start out with P50v or P50w. Do you still recommend the milder version since I am a newbie. Also, should I be concerned about the Phenol? There were some negative remarks about that ingredient when I researched it online.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Phenol has been taken out - MUCH TO MY ABSOLUTE HORROR :) LOL Yes I would go for the v or w depending on your age and skin. Look at the Biologique Recherche website for further info.

  15. I have quite dry, sensitive, pale skin and have had a dreadful outbreak of spots on my chin and cheeks recently. I use a cleanser, toner & moisturiser (all Origins) and use the Origins super spot remover but so far, no luck. Is there anything you could recommend to help me clear up my skin?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. The Origins may not be enough. (Sorry Origins!)Start changing your products out one at a time. Invest in Liquid Gold or P50 - both are amazing for your skin. Switch cleanser first!

      Delete
    2. Thankyou! :) I'm switching to the Liz Earle Cleanse & Polish to see if that'll calm my skin down :) Although I'm only 20 - I thought Liquid Gold had primarily anti-ageing properties - would it still be suitable for my skin?

    3. DO NOT DO IT.Read all my previous clinics. And read 'I Know Its a Hero Product But I Just CAN'T' post. Please! And yes LG will be fine.

  16. Would the Alpha-H balancing cleanser be good as a second cleanse/morning cleanse in conjunction with the EH Balm cleanser for combination/congested/slightly dehydrated skin? I have the REN clear calm 3 but don't think I should be using it everyday as a second cleanse?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Yes it would but equally the REN is fine as a second cleanse. In an ideal world mix them up - use them alternate nights. (Not LITERALLY mix them!) :)

      Delete
    2. Is REN good for a morning cleanse too? Or would that be too much in addition to using it as a second cleanse at night? I don't want to dry my skin out.

      Delete
    3. I would do either or - not both unless I was REALLY oily.

  18. I was wondering if you could let me know what you thought of Agera, Dermaquest & Epionce products? Agera mag c serum, dermaquest B5 serum & epionce spf 50 for face. I am 40 with very fair, fine skin with some open pores & blackheads around nose & chin.(Not quite sure what skin type, sometimes dry /dehydrated)Also I would like to know what you think of sarah Chapman ultimate cleanse versus Rodial cleaning balm. Thank you so much.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. I like the Agera foaming peel/scrub. Haven't used that serum - sorry. I think Dermaquest need to bring more to the table than just being full of hyaluronic acid. Everything is these days. Epionce looks ok but I love Elemental Balance SPF - it's really lovely.
And I prefer Emma Hardie to both of them. How's that? :)

    2. Thank you! I have been dipping in & out of skincare ranges & want to find a good routine & stick to it. It's great to get advice from someone who is not actually selling a range. I have some thread veins on my nose & cheek which I am getting treatment for (advanced etectroylis) but they are slow in fading. I was told i needed a serum full of antioxidants hence the mag c serum.I love EH so will prob stick to that cleanser for night. Thanks for your help, this is an amazing page I stumbled upon. x

    3. The only thing that gets rid of thread veins is red vein therapy. Don't waste your time.

      Delete
    4. Really? Never heard of red vein therapy. really disappointed I may have been wasting my money on advanced electrolysis. Will look into the red vein therapy. Many thanks again for taking the time to answer.

  21. Hi Caroline! I currently have two very dry red sore spots on the edges of my mouth- to the point where the skin is cracked/peeling. I've been flying frequently over the past week and a half and wondered if the cabin air and high altitudes made it worse. Is there anything I can use for immediate relief? I've tried neosporin, aquaphor, burt's bees lip balm, and cortisone cream, all to no avail. I'm getting a bit desperate for it to clear up because it is AWFUL looking! I don't have eczema, although I do have PCOS so perhaps it is hormone related? I'm not sure at all, but thanks in advance for your help!

    1. Ooh OW! Firstly, do you take any supplements? Zinc? Go straight into the heavy duty balms - Darphin/Decleor?Neals Yard. Won't taste great but will help. My first choice would probably be NY Wild Rose Beauty Balm. Smother your mouth in it at night. You may not be able to snog but there we are. :)And do you go over the area with a toner? I know it sounds grim but a slight acidic toner on cotton will keep it turning over. However, I know I am a sadist and actually like a sting and a bleed (I know I know) - but try. If you can bear it. Let me know?

    2. Hi! Sorry to butt in Caroline (and feel free to not publish this!) but I had the exact same problem over several months recently. I finally discovered I had extremely low iron levels which were causing it, since taking pills it's sorted me right out. My GP suggested (before iron tests confirmed otherwise) that it could also have been caused by a mild yeast infection, so that could be worth looking into? Just thought this could be helpful!

    3. It could be candida - we all carry it but some flare up more than others. I am medically anaemic and have never suffered from that but good to know. :)

  26. Hi Caroline.

I was very active during secondary school. Played netball and I didn't even apply any sunscreen on my face throughout those years. To make it worst, I live in a country which is sunny all year round. I'm turning 21 this year and I have freckles all over my face and not to mention huge pores as well which is really embarrassing.

Could you recommend me products that can lighten my freckles or better still remove it completely? Willing to splurge as long as it works. I look horrible.

Thanks for all your help. :-)

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. I doubt anything will remove them completely. And why would you want to?? :) I love freckles. If you don't want any more I suggest you use a high spf, niacinamide, vitamin a and arbutin in your products. Check inci labels - make sure they are high up on the list.

      Delete
    2. I guess it bothers me that I'm the only one with freckles in my clique and it makes me look much older? I'm so vain.

Thank you so much for the suggestions. Appreciate it. :)
