Charlotte Tilbury's Makeup House of Rock 'N' Kohl - and moi.

I'm sure you've seen in the press and on blogs that Charlotte Tilbury has set up shop in Selfridges this week until Sunday with makeovers, great beauty treats and evening panel discussions. I popped in today and it was packed. PACKED.

I'm joining Charlotte and her team on Thursday afternoon for a meet-up/catch-up/hang out - whatever you like to call it.

I'll be in store from around 2.30pm onwards. If you didn't get a chance to come to the recent Selfridges event or couldn't get tickets for the one-to-one's - now's your chance.

Bring your skincare, bring your face, we'll get cracking. (you don't actually have to bring your skincare, but it's probably best you bring your face eh?)

Would love to see you.

Charlotte Tilbury's House of Rock 'N' Kohl is open until Sunday 23rd June.

  2. Hi,
Love reading your blog. I wanted to ask what your opinion is on decleor and when will you do the next one on one appointments? And also any tips on where to buy good flannels, I am throwing out my muslins. Thank you for a lovely blog, I have learnt so much from you :-)

    1. Love Decleor, not sure yet and either Primark or John Lewis - depending on budget. I prefer JLP these days due to Primark's shoddy working conditions overseas.

  3. Hi Caroline,
Just a quickie! Do you use the Una Brennan rose facial oil as a pre cleanse before another 2 cleanses, or is it the 1st of 2 cleanses? Am I making sense?
    Many thanks
    Rachael (again) x

  6. Would love to come but wouldn't get a babysitter :( Hope you don't mind me asking a question here. Basically wanted to know what can be done for sebaceous hyperplasia (pretty sure I've got that) and serious congestion? I'm 30 with oily yet dehydrated skin. I'm using md formulations sensitive cleanser, REN clarifying toner, effeclar duo, then daytime Dr Brandt Pores No More Anti-ageing Matifying Lotion and at night Origins Night-a-mins oil free. Would be so, so grateful for product/routine recommendations. My skin is really starting to depress me and feel nothing really helps. Thank you so much!! Julie

    1. Julie I would stop the Dr Brandt, Origins and Effaclar. Don't treat your skin as acneic. Treat it as rosacea.
Do you supplement? Acidophilus, fish oil, Zinc?
If you can afford upgrade to Pixi Glow tonic and buy a good cleansing oil/balm and a good oil for PM use.
      Minimum! xx

  9. Need HELP, love you and your blog! Just wanted to know what you could recommend for cleanser, moisturizer and toner for normal combination skin from the sephora website? I live in canada so some of the great products you have mentioned are not available. I'm not prone to acne just the occasional hormonal breakout. Thanks!! I hope you can get to this :)

    3. I hear you Gen! I was just at Sephora and I picked up the Clinique Cleansing Balm (no Emma Hardie here) and the Clarins hydrating Chamomile toner and of course Kate Somerville Goat's Cream.

      Caroline,

I allegedly got a skin anaylsis done at Sephora today by a Shiseido expert and she said I have dehydrated/combo (oily t zone sometimes and normal cheeks), ideas for a hydrating cleanser for the morning? and a serum? (I use hydraluron and pepta bright too)

THANK YOU! You have changed my life and my skin!

  10. First off, I will tell you that this comment doesn't contain a single question, so don't be scared by it's length.

I just would like to take the opportunity to thank you. I'm a 26 years old Norwegian girl and I've never had a problem with breakouts before. The occasional pimple yes, but no massive breakouts. About 6 months ago that all changed. I was finishing my master thesis in molecular biology and I was stressed, depressed and not taking care of myself. Poor diet, no exercise and little sleep. I was a mess, and suddenly so was my face. I broke out with cystic acne on my chin and cheeks and it was awful. I didn't know what to do and how to handle it, but after some time I stumbled across your blog.

I invested in the Emma Hardie cleanser, got hold of the Pixi toner (I'm going to London in July and will pick up the p50), hydraluron, a good moisturiser and Liquid Gold. I started with supplements, cut drastically down on sugar (still allow it on occasion) and dairy. And my skin is slowly, but surely getting better.

I still get a pimple now and then, more around my period, but my skin is clearing up. I can feel it. I've only really been on this regime for about a month now, so expect it will take a little while longer to settle completely, but things are looking up. And it's all thanks to you.

So thank you for all you advice and for making this blog. It has greatly helped me, and many others, I'm sure of it.

    Kind regards,
    Maria

  12. Dear Caroline, here's a yes or no question - "natural" oil cleansing method using castor oil and a plant/vegetable oil. Yay or nay? Dangerous or viable alternative? I'm a Cetaphil user but am certainly wondering.

  13. uh, such a pity the only Selfridges I get to shop in is through the computer screen in my bedroom, as Debenhams is my only offer of luxury I do tend to splurge with the old online spends which is proving to be a bit pricey as I cannot try before I buy. I was blessed with a beautiful baby girl 9 months ago and she came bearing the gift of rosacea something which I thought only happened to my mother-in-law, but no there it is on my cheeks clear as day. im wasting so much money trying to find anything that helps clear it, at the moment im using la prairie as I believe in investing in my skin but im thinking of switching to skinceuticals. I would honestly love your opinion or advice on how to help me at least control the rosacea as its really getting to me now.
    Kind Regards
    Charlene

  19. Hi,

Please can you give me some advice I am desperate. I always thought I had greasy skin I do on my t zone but over the last 5 years my cheeks have become bright red and very dry they are getting worse almost my whole cheeks are angry red with dry patches I have tried several products but nothing has helped. At the moment I wash my face with aqueous cream and just splash my cheeks with water and have cream off the doctor called Cetraben Emollient Cream he said I just have dry skin and to keep putting it on. My cheeks need to be greasy all the time to help it I only use it twice a day as I get huge spots and tiny white spots I do get a few spots but I think the cream is giving me more. I've been using for about a year but it hasn't helped. I had to beg of him to give me something. My skin is very tight and stings with flaky bits but it's the red I hate make up doesn't cover it very well and it's just getting worse. I'm eating healthily as I'm doing weight watchers but even if I am eating bad my skin never changes just gets worse. I don't drink or smoke. I'm 38 years old. It's so bad I don't go out unless I have to.

Thank you very much. I'm not sure if this is in the right place. I would be so grateful for any help and advice you can give I know you are very busy.

    Wendy x.

  20. Hi Caroline!

I'd be interested in hearing you speak a bit about skincare for swimmers. I tend to take to the pool (both indoor and outdoor) in summer and it eventually gives me that dry/dehydrated quality to my combination skin. Is it as simple as upping the ante on moisturizing?

    Many thanks for your time!

    Best,
    Heather

  28. Hi Caroline,

Another request for you to come to Australia. You will be the only person I want to show my face without makeup on :)

I am on the same skincare routine for the last 3 years, Shiseido The Skincare. The only range that does not break me out any further.

Skin concern - Dehydration, acne-prone especially on my chin, congested pore on nose and chin. Clear cheeks and forehead.

Everytime I want to try a MILD glycolic/AHA/BHA my skin breaks out severely with cystic acnes and left scars (even if I did not pick them)

My question - Should I leave my routine as it is? Would love love glowing skin (seeing some early sun spots as well) therefore want to add some sort of acid product.

    Thanks!
    Ren

  30. Girls, I met Caroline today Thursday at Selfridges! What a treat. She is the so lovely. She has the most seriously beautiful lush skin imaginable, so girls take heed of her advice. I'm upping my daily intake of fish oil capsules on her advice. It really made my day to meet her! She is a real gem :)
