Follow me on Bloglovin

Hi Everyone,

Just a quick one. I joined Bloglovin a couple of years ago - wandered away - and frankly just realised over the weekend that my blog was swinging loose over there on Bloglovin all on its own.

How rude of me. So this is me claiming my own blog back. As you do. Apparently we're all to be without GFC soon - or so I am told by those in the know.

So:

Follow my blog with Bloglovin

Also - this video is not entirely unlike me - just so you know. Minus the blonde.

  1. I am with you on the video (except I wouldn't have the balls to throw it off the desk!) Quick question: Dior Rehydrating Mask, have you used? Any good?

(Not sure if this comment went through, sorry if its a repeat)

  2. Hi Caroline,

Serious Question! I have been following your blog for some time now and I use liquid gold 3x a week and clarins brigthening exfoliator every morning and on non liquid gold nights. I have combo skin, lots of blackheads (well, not anymore!) and always, ALWAYS double cleanse! (NY wild rose balm and REN clear calm 3)

I recently started using pepta bright following my clarins gentle brightening exfoliator at night and it seems like the area around my mouth is getting lighter. Upon further examination I noticed some fainter light spots around my chin area. I am conerned about bleaching...do any of these products (or the combination) bleach the skin? The clarins is a "brightening" exfoliator. Is that a nicer way to say "lightening"?

I have tan skin and I do not want to end up with the blochy bleached skin many women get after years of using bleaching creams!

    Thank you!
    Renee

    1. Hi Renee,

You may well be over-exfoliating. Cut LG to 2 x week. Clarins can be used in the mornings but i would have a hydrating toner to hand to alternate with.
pepta-bright is designed to brighten/lighten so yes - you could well be 'bleaching'. It's worth noting that they won't do this separately - its a cumulative effect!

  3. Hi Caroline, following you on bloglovin' now! I wanted to ask you something. I read in one of your old posts that you don't use sunscreen. And that you get your spf from your makeup. But being a skincare specialist that you are, I'm sure you know that spf from makeup is actually not real, and if it was, it wouldn't be enough. Another important thing is that if we dont use sunscreen then we might as well give up on all the other treatments, specially the ones that contain glycolic acid, for instance. Because otherwise we might do even more damage to the skin. As far as I'm concerned there's no point of using all of these products if we don't use sunscreen. Am I right? Have you changed your mind about sunscreen or you still don't use it?
I'm just curious about yout thoughts on sunscreen and if you are against it and why.
Also, i'm looking foward to the reviews you're gonna do on those new products!
    Thank you!

    1. Hi Anon,

No I still only get my SPF through MU - unless I'm sunbathing OF COURSE!! I try and be clear though that I am very olive-skinned - I have native indian in me and am a bit of a sun bunny. But for most pale/english rose/not me people I recommend SPF. I'm not THAT bad honest! :)

  5. Hi Caroline!

I am a new reader and I've fallen in love with you. You changed my view on skincare and I am very thankfull for that :). Quick question - What do you think of Avene skincare products? I've been looking into them, and I'm not quite sure. I have ccombination and very sensitive skin, am very pale and a redhead.

    Thanks a lot xxx

    1. I like everything about Avene except that they like mineral oil. They would say its because its generic and most people with sensitivity don't react to it - but I'm still a little 'ugh' when it come to MO.

    1. NUXE's Reve de Miel is EXCELLENT! There are many lip balms out there without mineral oil. Korres does some really good lip butters as well, with really lovely tints.

I know you get a bazillion questions but I was wondering what your opinion is on natural skincare? Like pure coconut oil and jojoba oil?
Love your blog, I bought Emma Hardie and Hydraluron just because of you! <3

  11. Hello ! I Have search everywhere online to purchase the La Roche Posay Serozinc and I am unable to find a retailer the sells and ships to the US. Do you know of any retailers the sell Serozinc and the will ship to the US?? If not, do you know of or have any recommendations of a substitue for your readers/followers that are unable to purchase serozinc?? I hope you know a retailer and/or a substituation.. It would be of great help to all your US followers. Thank you so very much!

  12. Quick yes/ no question (hopefully)! Can the pill cause acne/ breakouts/ spots?

I suspect my very light pill (Logynon) might be causing me spots on my cheeks (that rarely ever come to a head)/ general redness and irritation, but my derm says it's because of my combi skin and told me to use a "gentle foaming cleanser" to get rid of the oil on my face (I use balms atm) and stop putting anything on my face at night (apart from cleansing) (I do a few steps on my face atm). Eek!

    1. Tell your derm they're insane.

Yes it can but the cheek area is more often than not your digestive area - stoamch/bowels etc - do you have any bloating or IBS? If so might be food intolerances.

    2. I did suggest that I know my skin better... ahem.
I do have some bloating issues that I've been looking into actually, fingers crossed I can eliminate what's causing them - trialling no milk these days.
Thanks ever so much Caroline! If only I wasn't on holiday when you did your London appointments! I'll be at the IMATS though and will be looking out for you if only to say hello :)

  13. which moisturisers would you recommend at min? I have combination little bit dehydrated skin. currently using estee lauder day wear. thank you.

  14. Hi Caroline,
I have sensitive redness prone skin. Currently using
Am- pai cleanser/ botanics balm , Olay serum, REN gloBal protection day cream.
Pm - cleanser as above, Ren omega serum, frankincense night cream

I want to add something more anti ageing (37 this year). I was thinking of REN Bio retinoid concentrate. Would I just alternate the omega serum and the concentrate?

    Many thanks

  15. Hi I left a comment last night but not sure if it worked so just ignore if it comes up twice lol. Anyway which moisturisers are you recommending at minute? I have combination slightly dehydrated skin and currently use Estee Lauder day wear. Fancied a change as I'm just not feeling the love of it anymore. Thanks.

  16. Made sure to follow you on Bloglovin. I've got all my blogs now crossed over so when the sad day that Google stops I should have a seamless transition...she says.

I seem to have amassed a few spot/skin refining things recently. My 40 year old skin now needs some high tech stuff! I have not used these all at once, (infact the p50V has only just arrived) and I absolutely know not to but, can any of these work together and which would benefit my currently spot prone/ageing skin the most?
    P50V
Sarah Chapman Age Repair Serum (and Overnight Facial) - I have used this serum a couple of times and really saw a lovely difference.
REN Resurfacing AHA Concentrate and Clearcalm Mask and I have my eye on the Glycolactic Mask
So I have rather a lot!
I do love the Sarah Chapman Serum, very impressed and I know that P50V is HG worthy. I think it really boils down to which of these should I be using to tackle the mild acne/ageing now and which I could use later?

And I absolutely utterly promise I have not even thought about using these in any combination at all - that's why I came to you!

  17. Hi Caroline,
Have you tried the Michael Todd true organics products? I was just wondering if the antibacterial blue green algae toner is a good one to use.
You've changed how I think about skincare, love your blog!

  20. Hi Caroline
I've watched your video with nic and Sam on pixiwoo, well I have a very dry rough chin and no matter how many treatments or moisturizers I use nothing really cures it so what do you recommend for me and one more thing what are the alternatives for the products you mentioned in the video because I didn't find them in Egypt and the brands available are Clarins, avene, la roch posey, bioderma, Vichy, uriage,Dior , Chanel

  22. Hi Caroline, this is my first time asking you a question.
I wanted to know what face setting powder (translucent) is best for combination skin and asian toned? I was given make up forever hd setting powder in a make up store and realised it was 100% mineral silica, kind of made me want to return it asap! Please could you reply to this post. Thanking you in advance. :)

  23. Still hoping you might reply as I've all these products and don't know which to use.

  24. Hi Caroline. I'm nearly 40 and would like to step up my skincare from C&P for cleansing and aveeno cream. I'm not too sensitive but like a moisturiser which doesn't make me break out. I am combination to dry depending on climate and weather change. Currently using Eyesilix which I love following your recommendation. My skin is getting fairly dry especially around my eyes. The dreaded wrinkles are appearing but I think the dryness makes them worse however the eye cream has helped. I need a daily moisturiser which helps with sun protection too as I work with kids in all weather conditions. Or if you could recommend separate products. I would really appreciate your advice xx
