Fortnum & Mason Candle Room

Total eye candy post. I popped into Fortnum's for a meeting last week and had my first proper look at the Candle Room.

Sigh. Every single smell you could wish for - and the Fortnum's Christmas candle is as you would imagine: Miracle on 34th Street in a glass jar.

Candles made from the bees kept on the roof of Fortnum's.

Christmas in a smell. Literally.

  1. This looks like heaven, I think it would be difficult to drag me out of there without spending far too much money, The Christmas candle sounds gorgeous!

    1. My all-time fave is Anick Goutal's Noël. A more affordable option is Space NK's Shimmering Spice. Both lush!!

  5. Hi Caroline. Would you/do you ever use Paula Begoun 'Paula's Choice' products? Her speal and ingredient lists seem impressive but I personally still need a Hirons stamp of approval. Any chance of a review?

    1. obv not Caroline but her 2% bha is beyond amazing. My skin is smooth as a baby's bottom. Would post before and after photograph if I could. Not a huge fan of her sunscreens though. But her antioxidant serums and bha/aha products = my holy grail. I don't even have to wear foundation anymore. Plus the customer service is so lovely if you have any problems, I was refunded for the lotion that didn't work well with my skin. Only one of her moisturisers for those with rosascea has mineral oil towards the end of the inci list so avoid if you don't like MO/petrolatum. I'm guessing Caroline wouldn't approve because PC's stuff isn't laden with irritating essential oils and fragrance.

    2. Hi Anon. Paula's range is on my list to use.
And Nadine: yes, I only ever recommend products laden with essential oils and fragrance.
      Not.

    3. **Please don't hate me** but - Correct me if I'm wrong (and yes I read your Paula Begoun/Rumour Mill post!) but I didn't think you were the biggest fan of Paula? I would probably find it hard to give an unbiased opinion if I wasn't fond of a certain line, although no human being can say they are 100% unbiased. However I suppose every line has the good and bad. .. have never used her stuff so can't comment on that but I do sometimes read her articles and like the research and science-backed information rather than marketing banter. Look forward to your reviews!

And gorgeous pics. ..very, very tempted to get up and run over to Fortnums now!! *sigh*

  6. I probably would just smell everything, leave without buying and then cry about it afterwards

  7. What a shame they couldn't hide the socket trap door on the floor - kind of ruins the whole thing...

  9. Hello Mouth, I love your blog and what it does for my skin, thank you!! Can I ask how should I be applying my moisturiser? Should I smother or pat or what? I have pretty normal skin, usual imperfections. Used to get a bit flaky before finding your blog now I get a bit oily on the forehead and I'm not sure why... Any insight would be much appreciated, thanks.

  10. Oh, can I just live there forever? It looks so magical, I'm completely jealous of you Caroline. I don't even want to imagine how much these candles cost though.

  12. Caroline! I can't get hold of Darphin Purifying Balm, it's out of stock everywhere, and it wasn't in any pharmacies when I was in Paris a few weeks ago. Has it been discontinued? Help!
