Give and Makeup Shoebox Campaign and new posting address

I usually keep Give and Makeup separate from the blog but its that time of year again and we have just kicked off our Shoebox Campaign for the children in the refuges/outreach projects.

We also have a new London posting address so below is some text lifted from the original post over on GiveandMakeup.com for ease....

All parcels for Give and Makeup can now be sent to:

Give and Makeup
See page on tab above.

We are asking once again, for shoeboxes containing gifts suitable for children aged from newborn to mid-teens.

They can have anything - pyjamas, clothing, books, crayons, colouring books, suitable dvd's (they will be checked anyway), toys, sweets, chocolate, magazines - pretty much anything that you know a child will appreciate.

Please, please, spread the word and give what you can. I cannot tell you how heartbreaking it is to see these children in the shelters with absolutely nothing. Yes, they are of course safe from harm, warm and fed - which are the most important things - but surely at this time of year we can do more for them?

Please do not send any of the following:

No war related items - guns, knives etc
Nothing of a political or religious nature (books)

Our regional collections in Manchester and Cardiff will also be accepting the boxes.

If you are able to help these kids it would be much appreciated.

Thanks everyone!

  2. Do the toys etc have to be brand new or can they be decent quality but unused toys from my kids etc? Sorry if that's a really obvious question x

    1. No, that's exactly what I wanted to ask! :-)
Are very clean hand-me-downs acceptable? My daughter has some gorgeous things that she might have looked at or worn once or twice but has outgrown. I usually hand them on to a friend's daughter, but I think a shoebox full of extra-nice stuff can be diverted to Give and Makeup, if it's what they want.

  5. Is there a closing date on this Caroline? Also, any idea where we might be able to get extra shoe boxes? My husband throws ours out as soon as I get them! Pah! Although I suppose this could be an excellent time to buy new shoes....LOL

  8. Hi Caroline. I am sorry to hijack this blog but I have tried to keep up with you and your recent posts, which is hard for me being so ill and taking the strong medications. I love what your doing here and also for not only Breast Cancer Awareness but Ovarian, which is what I managed to catch just in time to have surgery to remove it. Unfortunately, I have another tumour but I am staying positive that it will be okay and not any cancer coming back! I have also have 5 back operations (pinned and plated), Endometriosis, Raynauds, 4 'Stroke like illness' mimics a Stroke and paralysis like a Stroke does, and other serious health issues.

I first saw you on Pixiwoo and since then I haven't been able to stop reading your blogs. On Pixiwoo you were taking about skincare and baby wipes (I can see your face cringe) used only for the 3 F's lol. Since then I started reading your Blogs and found my way here!!! I have been very ill for most of my 30's (I'm now 40 and still ill) my skin is a mess and VERY dehydrated, oily/dry. I would like to know what products should I use to start with as I am so over welled with all the products (I am on Ketamine, Morphine, Diazepam, Amitriptyline, etc) I am also very hormonal (started going through the change early) So, spots, whiteheads, blackheads, open pores, blocked pores ... Basically, my skin is not very well at all!!!!! Please help?

    Thank you xx

  10. hallo you gorgeous woman! Just wanted to say that I would definitely donate if I lived over there, we have a similar thing over here ( Aussie ) for Christmas, I take my kids with me and we have fun filling the boxes, its a nice way for children who have a lot to give to those who have very little. 12. I would also certainly donate if I live in the UK. I've been to shelters a few times doing volunteer work, and it is absolutely horrid, in spite of the amazing work those places do. Good luck with everything, Caroline!

  16. Hi Caroline
I only found your brilliant blog yesterday but will be a regular from now on. I'd love to donate to the shoebox appeal but wondered what the deadline is. Also, do you need each complete box to be for one specific age group or can we mix gifts for all ages/genders. Sorry if that's a daft question, just not sure how it works. And are you also collecting gifts for the women or just the children? Great work, all good wishes.
