Michael Angove for Jo Malone London

Coming on 1st April is this beautiful limited edition collection from Michael Angove for Jo Malone. I'm really enjoying these collaborations - they give new life to an already-solid brand.
The candle is exquisite and the design built around the glass instead of relying on just the scent works perfectly.

The wardrobe scented sachets are subtle and not overpowering and the soaps are adorable.

It's a shame they didn't launch in time for Mother's Day here in the UK but I don't need an excuse for a Jo Malone gift. (ever-so-non-subtle-hint for my children)

Available in all Jo Malone outlets on 1st April including online www.jomalone.co.uk - prices start at £20.00

  2. Dearest Caroline,
My comment has nothing at all to do with this subject, but I'm reaching the end of my tether literally sobbing over the state of affairs yesterday) and as you are the Queen of everything skin related I'm hoping that you are able to give me some advice. For the past few years I've been having dreadful issues with broken caps accompanied by slight flushing all over my cheeks. Even plucking hair can cause little red veins to creep up to the surface. At the moment it's worse than it's been in ages. Over night I got tiny red patches just under my eyes, on my eyelids and randomly dotted across my cheeks - they look dry, almost like tiny dots of dry skin, and underneath I can see red veins. I also have dry patches of skin on the sides of my nose that are flushed with veins coming through underneath. I really don't know what to do anymore. My previous doctors have just given me a prescription for antibiotic creams as one of them suspected rosacea, but didn't think it was worth sending me to a proper dermatologist. Personally, I don't believe it's rosacea as I don't have pustules and my forehead and chin is completely free from redness and caps.
I used to have eczema on my face when I was in my early teens (I'm now 28) and the only thing we knew to do back then was to apply cortisone creams. In the back of my mind I've figured maybe this has weakened my skin?

I completely understand if you don't have time to respond, I know you're terribly busy, but thought it was worth a try anyway :)

  3. Hi, just wanted to tell You: Ren has changed formulation of their Clarifing Toner into worse ( I think), of course without any info :/. I just got a new bottle from Space NK.
    New ingredients:
Lavandula Angustifolia (Lavender) Flower Water, Salix Nigra (Willow) Bark Extract, Phenoxyethanol, Citrus Medica Limonum (Lemon) Fruit Extract, Sodium Hydroxymethylglycinate, Passiflora Quadrangularis Fruit Extract, Ananas Sativus (Pineapple) Fruit Extract, Vitis Vinifera (Grape) Fruit Extract, Alcohol Denat., Mentha Piperita (Peppermint) Leaf Water, Linalool, Citrus Aurantium Bergamia (Bergamot) Leaf Extract, Potassium Sorbate, Sodium Bisulfite.

No Lactic Acia, Sodium Lactate, preservative almost on top of the list. Im annoyed a bit:/

    2. Hi, I'm coming back with a small update:)

I just got a reply from Ren:

      Thank you for your email.
I can confirm that this product has simply been repackaged and the formula has not been changed.
The list of ingredients may look a little different due to changes in regulations which affect how we list the ingredients.
Hope this has helped. Please let me know if you have any further comments or queries and I will be happy to help.
      Kind regards,
      Sara Tahmasbi

I'm confused. Main regulations in UE haven't changed. They still have to list all the ingredients depending on their concentration ( from high to low), for me whole formula has been turned upside down ( e.g. bergamot extract was on top). And max concentration of phenoxyethanol is just 1% (International Journal of Toxicology), so everything listed after is below 1%. Besides I didn't see linalool in the old formula ( which today has been changed on their web site).

So either they sholud learn to write their formulas properly and stop confusing customers or lady form CS was uninformed.

Oh well. Not the first time companies are playing with us:/

I apologize for making this mess, but I feel You are the person who could understand me in this matter.

      Take care,
      Justine

    3. Here's the old ingredients list for reference:

Lavandula Angustifolia (Lavender) Flower Water, Mentha Piperita (Peppermint) Leaf Water, Citrus Aurantium Bergamia (Bergamot) Leaf Extract, Salix Nigra (Willow) Bark Extract, Sodium Lactate, Lactic Acid, Phenoxyethanol, Citrus Medica Limonum (Lemon) Fruit Extract, Sodium Hydroxymethylglycinate, Ananas Sativus (Pineapple) Fruit Extract, Passiflora Quadrangularis Fruit Extract, Vitis Vinifera (Grape) Fruit Extract, Alcohol Denat., Potassium Sorbate, Sodium Bisulfite.

The new version is, I believe, £6 cheaper than the old one so something must have changed...

  6. Hi Caroline,

I was wondering if you could give me some advice, that might help my mum. She has suffered from acne for years and is now 44 and still suffering badly. The acne she gets is quite unusual, in that it's not lots of spots - she usually just gets one or two at a time and, she says, each cyst comprises of many blocked pores, resulting in it taking sometimes up to a couple of years to get rid of each one. Crazy!

The one she has at the moment is the worst yet... but I think half the problem is that she picks and picks and is convinced it won't go away until she gouges out the sebum inside. (lovely image) This has resulted in a huge lesion (honestly it's an actual HOLE in her face that's about 1cm diameter). Myself and my stepdad have told her time and time again to leave it alone but she's convinced she must get all the 'yucky stuff' out - is she right? Or should she leave it? Or is it a mental problem? It's ruining her life at the moment - she spends hours in the bathroom 'dealing' with it each day.

    Please help!

Thanks so much Caroline - I love your blog, and thought you might be the best person to turn to!

    Kathryn xx

  7. Caroline,

Will there ever be a way for us Americans to get a consulation with you? I have been reading your blog (and following all the rules) for almost 5 months now and while my skin feels LOADS better, it still looks almost horrid. I would pay good money to see you, but I can't come to the UK.
Love you loads, I'm begging you to make this possible.

    Natalie
