  1. Thank you so much for all your straight forward no nonsense advice over the past 4 years. My skin and I are eternally grateful and after years of mutual dislike we became friends thanks to you.
Happy Birthday and many more to come please :-)

  2. Oh my god, dream prize! My favourite post has to be the simple but brilliant Routines cheat sheet. I can't tell you the awful things I was doing to my skin before I read that post. Discovering the double cleanse and my new BFF the acid toner has improved my skin so much during a very tricky hormonal time (coming off BCP... 9 months later still suffering. What a b****) - still a way to go but it's definitely getting there and pretty much all thanks to your advice. So if nothing else thank you for that! I will be a lifelong reader and have spread the good word.

    Fingers and toes crossed! X

  59. Routine cheat cheat I for one was not using a flannel. Also for introducing me to oil cleansers, for that I'll be forever grateful. Tbh I would be hard to think of one specific post, since seeing your video with the pixiwoos I've read every post. My skin still has issues but it has never been better.

    ReplyDelete
  60. Caroline, your routines cheat sheet (and actually just your cheat sheets in general) have totally changed the way I look at skincare. So much so that I've started my own handcrafted collection of skincare products all on my own, with the collection being built on the fabulousness of oils to include a balm cleanser, hydrating toner, and face oils. You have been a HUGE influence, so thank you.

  64. I love your cheat sheets in general but I think that my favourite blog post is the cheat sheet about toners!

    ReplyDelete
  65. Not very original, but your cheat sheet on routines, for sure. I used to use the Clinique three-step (don't judge me!) and as you've predicted, the exfoliator made most of my face fall off. I went to a Clinique counter and asked what was happening, given I was using the most mild formula, and the lady on the counter told me I was 'pressing too hard' with the cotton pad on my face. Er... I decided to do a bit of research and read a bit, but I couldn't quite figure out how everything fitted together. I had names of products, but I didn't know what did what and how things worked. Bit melodramatic maybe, but finding your blog was something of a revelation, and I finally understood what did what and what order they did them in, rather than just having a cupboard full of potions and no clue. Not to mention the flannels! So thank you for passing on all your wit and wisdom and congrats on the anniversary.

    ReplyDelete
  66. Happy 4th Birthday, Caroline!

I am so thankful for your cheat sheets, but I also love your beauty myths! They address things most of us have all thought before, and I am very grateful you've cleared them up! :)

  67. Congrats on your 4 year anniversary! So glad you've come this far and I hope you have many more happy years :) My favourites are always your cheat sheets :) p.s What a fab prize xxx

    ReplyDelete
  68. Choosing one post on your blog is a mission. So many of them have been spot on- no fuss, no pandering, no brand claims- just straight up truth and fact. I also love the fact that you are anti 'anti-ageing' products. Why should we be seeking to anti-age? One post which has really helped me is the skincare routine post- what we should be doing and when. I wrote it out and stick to it. It has helped me so much. I also love that you are not afraid to add to posts and revise them as things change.

Happy 4th blog birthday. Thank you for being so generous with your time, expertise and knowledge. You rock! :)

    ReplyDelete
  69. Your cheat sheets have changed my skincare routine! I now know how to look after my skin and the best way to treat different problems such as dehydration, spots etc.

  71. Happy 4th Year Anniversaryy!1

My favourite post have got to be the Routine Cheat sheet. I love how its simply explains what different steps do, and initially I had no idea I could use facial oils on my face being afraid of walking around with a greasy face, but its done wonders for my skin. I also love the Beauty jargon page - which basically you emphasised on how much marketing plays a role in the promotion of a product particularly with words that we might be inclined to trust but shouldn't really.

    Thanks Caroline! :)

    ReplyDelete
  72. I used to use Clinique's three-step (don't judge me) and, as you predicted, my face began to fall off. I went to the counter and asked why, given I was using their most mild formula. The woman told me that it was my fault, because I was 'pressing too hard' with the cotton pads. Er... I started reading up a little on skincare, and ended up with several pots of gorgeous products, but little idea how to use them, what they did, how they worked or how anything fitted together. Literally whether you put on serum first or last, how much oil to use, you name it. Finally I found your blog, your cheat sheets, and particularly your post on routines, and it finally all fitted together and I started to feel (a little) like I knew what I was doing. I had pretty awful skin when I was younger, but now people regularly ask me for my 'secret' ;) (I direct them here, obvs). And flannels! Revelation. Anyway, it's the cheat sheet on routines for me! Thanks for imparting all your wit and wisdom, and congrats on four successful years :)

As a 20 year old I have been following you since I was 18 - and I'd just like to say THANK YOU for sorting me out. You saved my skin. It was red, lumpy, dirty and not something I was proud of.

I now walk to work with a face full of moisturiser (and haven't worn foundation for months!)

My fave posts are your cheat sheets; they're so helpful. (But, let's be honest - everything here is helpful!)

    So thank you :)

  85. The cheat sheet on routines! You put everything out there just the way it is, not packed in fancy ingredient names or latin like most people in the business tend to do. I've gained so much knowledge about skincare in here and you have made me realise that it is not something superficial, but more so a matter of health and how we feel in our bodies! That our insides are reflected on our outsides has encouraged me to live a healthy life. Post carolinehirons.com I have gained compliments from strangers on how my skin looks, and I am also the one that my friends come to for skincare questions! You're my secret weapon, skincare Oprah ;)

  91. Amazing giveaway - happy birthday! I would say that the cheat sheets helped me a lot, so my favourite would be the cleansing cheat sheet. I also like the products recommendations (although I don't agree with all of them - Indeed Laboratoires' products definitely don't work for me), please keep it up writing those - it is always great to discover new brands in every proce category. Thanks Caroline, you are a star! Please keep up writing the blog and start a YouTube channel as well (I'm very demanding today).

  104. Congratulations on 4 years, I only wish I'd found you and your expertise so much earlier! My skin has always been awful ever since I hit puberty and discovered I had PCOS. Due to this I had made many assumptions on how to care for my 'acne' prone oily skin. My skin has seen the best turnabout within the last 3months thanks to your advice. However your recent post 'Beauty Myth 6' about real acne sufferers and that most of us have sensitive/normal/dry/blemish prone skin was a revelation and has cinched my skins recent improvement. I am now using better products although I am still learning and there is still much to improve on (morning routine, I'm talking about you)!

  110. Didn't want to say what everybody else's saying, but for me the best thing that I've ever read here has to be the Routines Cheat Sheet. It changed my life skincare-wise so much that I don't even know how could I ever go back to what I was doing to my face. There's still much to do for me, it's a constant learning process, but reading your blog daily (I have a lot to catch up on) makes it all easier every day :)
Glad that I discovered your blog and I hope you'll never stop writing :)

  116. Hi! Happy birthday!

My favorite post is this one: http://www.carolinehirons.com/2014/03/beauty-myth-no6-having-spots-means-you.html
Because I always treated my skin as a skin with acne, but then I realized that is not actually true. I might just need a treatment for dark spots to have a more even skin, and that's all, I don't need to rip it off with acids for acne.
And that also helped me to feel a bit better with my own skin...

Thanks for the all the posts! They are always very useful!

    Cheers!

  120. Happy Birthday!

Definitely 100% the acne cheat sheet for me. After being rather luckily spot free as a teenager, I suddenly started to suffer from acne aged 21. It completely ruined my confidence and my self-esteem completely fell apart. This cheat sheet made me realise that I had to start treating my skin with a lot of TLC and patience, feed it good stuff like fish oils and health foods and hydrating products, rather than stripping it down with foamy crap and alcohol. Slowly my skin has improved, and while I still do get the odd breakout, generally my skin is completely changed. And when it does throw a hissy fit I have the Sudden Breakouts cheat sheet to help me through!

Thank you thank you thank you :)

  128. OMG - As bizarre as it sounds this would be a dream come true! How do I put it - I am a stalker (as you've probs guessed with how many tweets I bombard you with!).

I can't pick one post - that would be wrong on so many levels. I have actually printed out your cheat sheets and filed them. I read them once a week to remind of the goods, the bads and the evils.

Your posts on cleansing balms/double cleansing/cleansing properly have changed my skin.

I thank you! Again & again. Hope to win!! :)

  135. Dear Caroline,

I'm having a really hard time picking just one because reading your blog has been a wonderously purse emptying but edifying experience, but if I have to pick one, it would be your post on Facial Massage for Cleansing/Post-Cleansing.

Thank you for helping me prevent my face from falling off.

    Yours in gratitude,

    Rachel

  136. Happy Blog Birthday! I hope there's cake? Too many great posts to pick a favourite, but the one that I go back to again and again is the spots cheat sheet when I need encouragement to back the hell off!! Great prize by the way, thanks Caroline.

  140. I do not really have one signle favourite blogpost of yours, but the cheat sheets have been incredibly helpful, especially the cleansing one!

    ReplyDelete
  141. I never mentioned a post... eek!- The body shop face tool thingy!!! love that gadget!!!

    ReplyDelete
  142. Your review on The Body Shop's chamomile oil cleanser series was one of the happiest days of my life. A cheap cleansing oil that I could get in the US? Godsent. And with the Hirons approval stamp on it? A girl can't complain.

    ReplyDelete
  143. Hard to choose but I would say the toner cheat sheet, changed the way I look at toners!

    ReplyDelete
  144. I've liked all your posts - but particularly the cheat sheets. I've had really bad skin for the past few years and I started using your suggestions with regards to cleansing balms, no SLS, etc and my skin improved a little bit. But I was still not satisfied so I started working with a nutritionist and a doctor and it turns out I am intolerant of gluten. Took me 5 months of elimination diet alternating with provocation diet to figure it out. But it is so worth it. I now have very few pimples as long as I stay away from gluten and sugar. My skin is slowly healing and scars are fading. Facial oils are a blessing. Couldn't have done it without inspiration from you :)

  145. It has to be the cheat sheets as they are my most used. They have helped my skin no end! Would seriously love to win this.

    ReplyDelete
  146. My favourite post is the Facial Massage for Cleansing/Post-Cleansing - Cheat Sheet. Its so helpful with easy to follow images and instructions. I've even got my mum, sister and husband doing it!

  148. Pixi Glo Tonic - helped my skin get rid of dry patches (used to have terrible skin, went on roaccutane) and worked wonders without feeling too harsh/"chemically". Wouldn't have come across it without the blog so thankyou Caroline! X

  149. I love all your cheat sheets. But the one that's helped me the most is probably the Sudden Breakouts, especially the 3 day Salmon diet!

  151. Hi Caroline

I would love to win a consultation with you...and to be honest my face NEEDS it!

You've been an absolute godsend - I had no clue about getting into a proper routine and what to avoid until I discovered your blog. I regularly check back at your cheat sheets - especially the acne one each time I get a monthly break out as a reminder and a nudge up the back side. I've also improved my diet and been religious about suplementing thanks to you. Thanks for helping all of us!

  152. Oh Caroline, congrats!! I am only 14 years old but your blog has me obsessed with skincare! I have learned so much and both my skin and I will thank you in 40 years! My favourite blog post of yours would have to be your routines cheat sheet because it helped be understand the basics. I went from using foaming cleansers and apricot kernels to basically every product you recommend! The only thing I am missing is toners. I am having a heck of a time finding a good everyday exfoliating toner that is available in Canada! I have the Clarins exfoliating toner, is that suitable for once a day use? Any help from anyone would be appreciated! Thank you Caroline! I am loving these everyday posts! You rock :)

  153. Happy birthday (to your blog) and keep on doing what you're doing. Without you I'm sure we all would have bought lots of rubbish skincare products and would all be using face wipes to take off our makeup... I'm even more excited to soon watch your videos! My favourite post (so far) is the Cleansing and the Beauty Routine cheat sheets - the most important step in my opinion and I always find myself sending the links to my friends! <3

    ReplyDelete
  154. My favourite? It has to be the one that made the most difference for me - the acne cheat sheet. After many re-reads of all of your blog, it's finally dawning on me that no matter how good my routine, no matter how well suited my products, if I don't take care of the INside, the OUTside isn't going to look good. My magic fix won't come from skincare. The acne cheat sheet explains that, and what to avoid, in terms which are scientific enough that I'm converted, and firm enough that I can't ignore them (any more). Thank you.

  155. hello! congrats and thank you for the giveaway. I do love all the cheat sheet but my favorite is Routine.

  156. The cheat sheet on sudden breakouts has been an absolute game changer for me! No longer do I run around like a headless chicken, throwing everything at my face and hoping something will work. Thank you and of course HAPPY BIRTHDAY - here's to many more!!

  157. My favourite was the one about cleansing. Before then I'd been super lazy, buying all sorts of expensive moisturisers and treatments but seeing no effect and get frustrated with my blocked pores and breakouts. Your straight forward no nonsense approach made me sit up and sort myself out and now I couldn't be happier with my skin! I've sent links to all my friends, its shocking how many people just don't know how important a good cleanse and buff is! Thanks Caroline x

  158. Dry or dehydrated changed my life. And the whole thing about foaming cleansers and apricot scrubs. Love it!

I've spent the last 10 years baffled by all the new products on the market and now I actually know how to use them and 3. You've eased my guilt about spending money on it all because my skin is more important than another pair of shoes . Thank you, Caroline.

  182. Hi Caroline,

my favorite post is/was "Cleansing". You completely changed my way of thinking about how cleansing should look like. I used you treat my skin with the harshest products available, stripping it from everything, and in a lot of cases leaving it without any moisture (yes, I did not even use any moisturizer).

You have no idea how significantly you impacted my life!

    Thank you!

    ReplyDelete
  183. How to choose? I think if I HAD to choose, your beauty myths would be my favorite. Thanks for everything you do.

    xx

    ReplyDelete
  184. It would be hard to pick just one! I love all your Beauty Myth posts. The one on acne versus blemishes was particularly helpful!

  185. My absolute favourite is the 'Clarins Skin Beauty Repair Concentrate - Review' as I went straight out and bought this product, and haven't looked back. It's great when my skin is angry, irritated, and just needs a little extra help. Thanks Caroline!

  186. My favourite is the routines which I follow faithfully!

    ReplyDelete
  187. Your cheat sheets for routines. I suffer from dehydration due to just not drinking enough and after a thorough dig around the blog changing my skincare bit by bit I feel so much more confident. Plus I use much less makeup.

They're so informative and helpful and I just love reading your blog and advice!!

    Thanks!!

    ReplyDelete
  189. Hi Caroline, your whole site has become my skincare bible but the Routines- Cheat Sheet is my all-time favourite post, it really de-mystifies the plethora of products out there and the skincare industry in general in a no BS, hilarious way! I've developed a great regime based on your recommended products and am horrified to think that my 'routine' once consisted of make-up wipes *shudders* Here's to another 4 great years!
