OGX Kukui Oil Shampoo and Conditioner

Ever since I talked about removing SLS from my shampoos and the almost instantaneous positive effect that doing so had on my scalp, I am always asked about my current shampoo/conditioners. These are brilliant. So much so that I was going to include them in my 'Best of 2014' video (Sunday hopefully) but then realised that they aren't out yet. Duh.

They are the first products I've used from OGX and I am completely sold.

This being me, I ran out of conditioner before I was even halfway through the shampoo so will be buying another one from the range tomorrow (doing my to-do list for tomorrow is what reminded me I wanted to write this post). They leave my hair really lightweight and with absolutely no residue. Perfect for either the big blow dry day or a bun (standard approach). One of the rarer occasions where you feel like a hair product is actually doing you some good, as opposed to coating it in gunk....

If you do suffer from scalp problems, or bacne, do try and use SLS-free products and see if they make a difference. The joy of it is you don't have to break the bank to do so.

OGX Kukui Oil is priced at £6.99 and is available Waitrose in the UK and all over the USA.

You won't regret it.

    1. Totally read Westeros instead of Waitrose and now I'm sad that it's not April yet.

  2. kukui oil is something I keep seeing pop up in hair care lately, I am thinking it's probably going to become the new argan oil. Let the over marketing and hype begin :) It looks lovely though!

  5. The product sounds like something that would work really well on my fine hair, plus the price is very interesting!

And yeah, I too run out of conditioner when I am still halfway through the shampoo!! Should we ask the brands to give us bottles with double the volume of conditioner? ;)

  6. Thanks for this very useful post. Indeed, stoping with SLS, and in my case with shampoo all together (I just condition twice) has made an enormous difference to my (dry) hair!

  9. It's so reasonable!! I could reasonably use this as an every day shampoo/conditioner!!! I'm going out to buy it. Thank you Caroline! In desperate need for weekday shampoo (I can't justify using my expensive ones every time I wash my hair!)

  18. My mind just exploded. My bacne was being caused by my shampoo.....I don't suffer from spots at all but was getting them at the top of my back and couldn't figure out why. Then I switched a few months back to L'oreal's new Ever pure sulfphate free range, and saw a big improvement on my back as well as my hair. REVELATION.

  19. OGX has a Coconunt Hibiscus Milk body wash that is utterly lush! And it is SLS free!!! I usually switch between L'oreal Ever Pure, Pureology, OGX Awapuhi Ginger, Tea Tree Mint, and Sea Mineral Moisture depending on how I am feeling. I will definitely be this to my list. Here stateside I remember seeing it at Publix and Target a few weeks ago. ( Happy dance!)

  20. My hands down winner is the Fushi Argan shampoo and conditioner http://www.fushi.co.uk/beauty/hair-care/shampoo/argan-amalaki-shampoo.html. Give it a go!

  22. I love the Argan line they do. Unfortunately it makes me break out on my back no matter how much I rinse but it leaves the hair looking great!

  23. I have to check out SLS free shampoo...not sure if this brand is available in Canada though.
I have been getting weird bumps/sores on the back of my neck once in a while and it might be the Head & Shoulders I'm using, although I have been using it for years. I also get acne on my back, so it might help to switch things.
Can you recommend SLS-free shampoo for dandruff control?

    1. You may well find that you don't have dandruff while using SLS-free products, it can sort your scalp out x

  25. Just looked at the ingredients in the shampoo and it has sodium sulfate...is this the same as SLS?
Hoping not as I suffer with dandruff and would love to find something to banish it

  26. I bought these just because of this review and it is lovely! I love the smell. I have a question about scalp acne, how does one get rid of it? Is there a way to exfoliate your scalp? Thanks!!!

  27. I used this set for the first time this morning and am amazed at how lightweight my hair has felt today. Dont know what it will be like long term but so far i'm impressed.

  28. Bought the kukui conditioner because of your rec even though I still had others to use up. Finally used it today and Oh. My. Gosh. Its brilliant! Left my hair soft, smooth, shiny and bouncy. Its a lightweight product that leaves no trace of grease. My hair just feels and looks healthy, and thats really something because my hair has gone through so much color processing. I love it Caroline, thank you <3 - Joy
