What's New this month?

Hi Everyone!

Back in the land of the living albeit looking roughhhhh. It's a long one - but if you are borderline/full-on obsessive about all things beauty you may make it to the end.

Enjoy!

  1. Hooray! Fab x x x Quick question - could the pixi glow be used as a 2nd (moisturising) toner - or for more of a quick pep up in the day? Thank you!

  2. BEAUT! I'd say "fill-yoom", as a hybrid of filling + volume for the pronunciation of Fillume. Makes sense, no? ;)

  3. Thanks for skincare advise! Please can you recommend a product for pigmentation/dark spots? Have tried various serums and creams...am turning 40 this year!

  6. Hi!! I'm excited about all this new things! although a big part of the skincare won't suit me, I'm looking forward to get the TBS mask (hopefully we have it in Spain... because I don't know what's wrong with us, we never have ANYTHING!haha)
Anyway I hate when I see people leaving you this huge comments, but I'm def doing something wrong, and I really don't know where to go(If you know any good facialist in Spain :) )

My problem is i feel my skin tight and I've been having breakouts for a few months (I look like 15 years old again...), not huge, but always a couple of big spots.

    I'm using:

    AM
    La Roche Posay toleriane cleanser
    Rose Water spray
    Plante System eye cream
    - I will incorporate Hydraluron in a couple weeks (a friend is bringing me some from Canada, yes we don't even have it in Spain)
    Origins Ginzing moisturiser

    PM
    Cleansing balm The Body Shop
    La roche posay Toleriane Cleanser
    Ren Exfoliant Toner
    Rose Water Spray
    Plante System Eye cream
Ren Omega 3 and 6 Serum
    Origins Moisturiser Ginzing

Once a week Gentle Daily Exfoliant from Dermalogica, Earth Pore Mask from Khiel's and an hydrating mask that I'm always changing and a face massage with Argan Oil from Melvita

Any thoughts? I'm almost 24, combination, sensitive skin and I just wanna come back to the skin I had like a year ago! :(
also, if you know something for dark circles? Suddenly I got also that (ahhh! )

Thaaank you, thank youu! I LOVE your blog, especially your videos, you are soo funny and so honest about what you think!

    1. I know I'm not Caroline Hirons but it sounds like you have dehydrated skin. Maybe you should try a water based moisturizer? Cut back on the exfoliating and go back to basics?

    2. Thank you!i was thinking about the same actually. That maybe I was over doing and needed something more simple

    3. I have had the exact same experience with my skin - it was perfectly fine until about a year ago when it allofasudden took me back to my teenage years! I think there are definitely stress and food variables in this equation as well... I don't know if you've looked into this too!

      Delete
    4. It's def not food, I look quite a lot what i eat, I'm not into counting calories, but yes into good quality, equilibrate and healthy diet. Anyway thank you very much for your suggestions!!
I think It is a mix of stress (last exam period of university, quite a lot of pressure) + over exfoliation. I'm trying to keep it simple, just toleriane/bioderma for cleansing with cotton balls, eye cream and moisturiser + a bit of argan oil at night fro extra moisture

Thank you for your recommendations girls :)

  7. Any thoughts about Foreo Luna?? I've been hesitating for months!! but you and the rest of bloggers I follow never talk about Foreo/Clarisonic

That makes me think is a big no-no?or maybe justa waste of my money?

  8. Tea & Caroline: Bob's your uncle. Great Sunday morning. Thanks a lot Caroline. I could spend my day watching you videos. Seriously.

  9. Hi Caroline, great video as always! Why would you recommend clinique cleansers only for removing makeup and not the actual skin cleansing?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. because they're just a really good 'greasey' oil. They're not loaded with plant oils etc that I prefer for skin cleansing x

  10. I could watch you all day! So much fun. I have a question regarding the Re-Nutriv, and other similar types of products; where do you draw the line at "This is fancy marketing" (Black Diamond Truffle extract?!) and "This product actually has extracts of useful stuff"? I tend to shy away of too much "This has magical unicorn horn sapphire powder in it, infused with leprechaun hair", because I feel like the ACTUAL product is average and they're trying to make it stand out with fancy stuff.
Maybe this fits more into the "Beauty Industry Jargon" category than it does in "FAQ", but I'd really love to know what you think.

    1. Hi Nightmoth :)

I totally hear you. I am the worst for being cynical of marketing hype. I'm in a fortunate position as you know of very rarely having to pay for anything. I always try to bear that in mind when I'm recommending products. If it's a mortgage payment for you, then no. If you can afford it - really afford it - then I would say (talking about anything) absolutely go for it. And I always refer to those products as the 'whale sperm grown by vestal virgins and picked during a full moon'.

      Delete
    2. Hi :) (looks like my original reply got lost in the great Internet nether). Thank you for replying! But why pay alot for something that is Dodo Juice, instead of say, Sunday Riley or Skinceuticals? Or Tata? Does price always equal quality? When are you paying for marketing and brand name and when for high end ingredients? So many questions, I'm just thinking out loud at this point.
(Apologies if this is a double post)

  11. Thanks, Caroline, and glad to see you're feeling well enough to vlog!

Quick question about the Murad -- would you use a moisturizer over it? Thanks for all you do!!!

  13. For Luna, can this replace a more traditional retinol product like Tazorac or Skinceuticals 1.0 if you are using those for acne specifically? And a 2nd question..if your face can easily tolerate Tazorac/Skincueticals is it still worth switching over to Luna? Thanks so much!

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Oh ok I just saw that you answered my 1st question in the other Luna blog post that this could replace Tazorac or Skinceuticals but I still wonder since my skin tolerates Rx grade retinol would there be a benefit to switching to Luna? I'm dying to try this but want to make sure that I would get the same acne protection if you will that I get from Skinceuticals 1.0 which is what I am currently using. What do you think?

  14. What about the new REN serum with hyaluronic acid? Did you try it? Thank you

  15. First of all, I think you're wonderful. Thank you so much for providing such great information.
Second, I have a quick question (or maybe not so quick) that doesn't really have anything to do with the video (although the video was lovely): Honestly I just don't trust companies when it comes to the ingredients they use. The federations that should protect us seem to be more concerned with protecting the companies (I think European standards for food and makeup are much higher than the USA, so you might not have seen this as much). But I feel like companies will basically put in anything as long as it isn't proven that it's going to kill someone. However, I don't technically believe in all the scare over ingredients like Parabens.
What would you avoid in your skincare that isn't directly related to how your skin would react, but that would be harmful absorbed into your body? Or do you not worry about this issue at all?
Would love to hear your input. :)

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Not Caroline, but nothing you apply topically gets absorbed into your body/blood/etc. If that were the case, think of those that use oil blends as body moisturizers... Do you know how highly caloric oils are? If the oils were truly absorbed into the body and digested, it would result in weight gain, but that's not the case. And even standard body lotions and creams that have trans forms of fatty acids - have you ever heard of a body lotion clogging arteries? Caroline has said before that she thinks companies that err on the side of natural can get a bit out of hand by putting 'non-toxic' and similar words on their skincare products, because formulators wouldn't put those ingredients in a product to begin with.

    2. I completely disagree with the reply above - in fact, there are many drugs that are delivered via the skin. Think nicotine, birth control and motion sickness patches. No one is saying that 100% of what is put onto the skin is absorbed - but if the molecules meet the right criteria, they will pass through. 16. Thank you so much for this video, Caroline! You are such a treat to watch (as well as to read of course): fun and informative and lovely!

Definitely made notes about a few products, especially the Egg White cleanser for those lazy evenings and the Body Shop bouncy sleeping mask - or is it sleepy bouncy mask? ;-)

Thanks again for your time and dedication to help us be more comfortable in our own skins!

  17. The Murad serum is also great for anyone who suffers from hormonal acne. It has phytoestrogens that help balance out any hormonal imbalances that might be present with the skin.

  21. Hi,
Another great video Ms. Hirons. To say I'm obsessed with this blog/YT channel is a bit of an understatement. Quick Q, can I put a moisturizer over top of Luna? Or should it just be: Cleanse, peel pad, Luna?

    ReplyDelete
  22. Another fab video thanks Caroline! I love the sound of Sunday Riley Luna, I think I might invest when it arrives here. Also think I'll try the Filooom ha ha :-)

  23. Great video! Not too long at all! I really look forward to these!

I use mostly IT Cosmetics (available in the U.S. at QVC and Ulta) and they had a product like the Lancome makeup pad that I don't think went over too well. It was not one of my favorites, at least. It will be interesting to see the reaction to the Lancome version. Also, IT has a product like the Little Black Primer called Tightline (it's been available a year or more). It has a small brush that catches all of your lashes and can be used as a primer or your mascara. I use it as my daily mascara and I love it!

Can't wait to try the Pixi mist, Luna, Bouncy Mask and the FAB milk oil cleanser!

And I've gotta say you look a heck of a lot better after a major migraine than I ever do!

  24. Can I hire you out to be my friend?! xx

  25. Awww...great vid! I super enjoyed watching it. Love it. Hope to see more videos like this.

  26. Quick question about the Lancome Cushion? Is it really good, how's the color selection? I love Laneige's but their color selection, just like any other asian bb creams, are meh. I kind of hoping to see cushion cater to medium tan with gold/yellow undertones...

    Thank you!

  27. Mizons returning starfish cream is a dupe for the body shop sleeping mask and is half the price if you want something similar but not at that price . And the egg foam cleanser buy on eBay it's only a few quid compared to cult beauty woohoo

Is Luna safe for pregnancy and breastfeeding? Sounds like it treats the problems I need addressed! Thank you for all your honest reviews! My skin has improved vastly after following your reccomendations.

  32. Thank you, Caroline, for your reviews. Very helpful!

I would appreciate your advise on my skincare routine. Since when I added SR oils, Juno and Luna I am a little bit confused how to use them correctly, how to integrate them into my current skincare routine.

I m using Revive at the moment,: moisturising renewal eye cream morning and evening, followed by defensif renewal serum daily antioxidant with sensitif renewal cream in the morning and moisturising renewal cream retexturising in the evinning.

Before I would apply creams I would use P50 followed by SK2 ultimate revival essence.

Since I watched your video, I bought Juno and Luna oils and since I am concerned about enlarged pores, shop assistant at space nk recommended to use exfoliants with glycolic acid. Hence I also bought Radical age defying exfoliating pads. (My wallet is very greatful)

Not to waist my money, how can I combine all these beauties with least damage to my skin and still get best results? Do I use oils on its own or under creams? The texture of Rvive retexturising cream which I use at night is of strange consistency to mix with oils. Do I interchange at the night routine?...

And which exfoliant p50 or radical can I use with Luna oil and retexturising cream at night? Can I combine p50 and radical pads in one day(morning p50 and pads at night).

So sorry for so much info and details but I really need an advise of an expert who know the field :)

Thank you so much and hope to hear from you soon.

    Angela

  35. Caroline . Im a AlphaH LIquid Gold user. HOwever I also got Radical exfoliation payds, and I use them daily, but IM afraid to use the liquid gold as well > The pads were in the Space NK goodie bag! Ive good skin , but been getting weird little tiny pimples, and skin which was dry, now has an oily T zone . The Radical has certainly made my face very soft, and lines might look a bit better. Suggestions ?
By the way are you still doing a monthly comp for skin consultations ??
