Merumaya trial - Exclusive for CarolineHirons.com readers

Right! Lovely opportunity for the exfoliating toner lovers out there. Last month a few eagle-eyed readers noticed that I was using a non-descript bottle with no label - to be honest it looked a little like a 'sample' bottle IFYOUKNOWWHATIMEAN? (second from left above).

The lovely Maleka from Merumaya is offering 20 readers the opportunity to trial the same exfoliating toner that I am using. It's literally a lab sample so you'll be right in there from the beginning.

Merumaya are looking for all skin types and conditions, so whether or not you are oily/acne, combination, sensitive, normal, mature, dry or dehydrated, this is for you.

Just to give you a little background on the product so that you know what you're signing up for, this would be used at the first toning stage after cleansing. It contains 15% AHAs but has no sting. None. It's loaded with hyaluronic acid, brown and micro algae, witch hazel and natural betaine - designed to hold 1.5 times its own weight in water. If you are OK with the above ingredients I don't think this will cause you any issues.

So: this is not a first come, first served offer, if you are reading this in the morning email I would still apply. Because they are looking for a cross-section of people, you will be contacted if you fit the profile, not if you apply first.

What to do:

Simply go to this link: http://tinyurl.com/kpkw4zj and fill in the information making sure to add: HIRONS TONER TRIAL in the 'How did you hear about us?' section. As you fill it in the 'errors' will disappear don't worry. :)
Due to overwhelming demand, if you have previously subscribed to Merumaya leave a comment below this post and they will add you in to the mix. You can make the process simpler by stating your skin type/conditions.
If you are successful, Merumaya will be in touch with further instructions etc. The trial is open to UK readers only.

That's it. Let me know what you think if you do get your sample!

  3. Thanks for this Caroline, not sure if I did this right but I filled in the form and it just seemed to subscribe me to their mailing list? It didn't mention my skin type of anything to do with a trial?
    Hope I did it right
    Thank you

  9. That sounds good!!
Quick question: Can REN omega 3 optimum skin serum oil make me break out?? I've change a few steps into my routine to approach Hirons skincare method and I'm suspicious between all of my new things is that which is making me break out :(

Any recommendation for 24 combination and sensitive skin serum? and night cream?

    Thank youu <3

    1. Hi Sara,
I have the same problem with the Omega 3 serum - it could be the Wheat Germ Oil thats making you break out. I use it once every 3 or 4 days, and my skin seems to be ok.

    2. I couldn't use this either but had no idea why, it just seemed to break me out. I now use the Sarah Chapman hydration booster but it's a lot more expensive :( Interested to see what Caroline might recommend as a night cream as I've got combi skin too and anything I've tried so far has left me oily or with bumps under the skin through silicones.

    3. Thank you both of us! :) I think I'll stay away from it for the moment! It's awful, I don´t have like oily skin but I guess I'm more prone out to break outs than I thought. I do check ingredients, reviews and everything but about 30% of what I buy ends up at the end of a drawer (I always think I'll eventually could use it) and I know, I know, try it before but I'm Spanish and is not that they love to give us samples here ...

  10. Could you please recommend a real gentle cleanser for sensitive skin. I start to develop an intolerance to most products. I'm currently trying Emma Hardie balm, which I live but sadly even that is start to make my skin feel sore and look red and dry.

    1. La Roche Posay Toleriane Dermo Dettoyant

Not fancy but the most gentle one I've ever tried

    2. Hard to say because you could be allergic/sensitive to anything...including the rest of your routine. Have you tried plain oils like jojoba, coconut etc?

    3. Hi,
Try the Melvita Cleansing Milk or Sukin Sensitive Cleansing Lotion. Not my favourite textures but they seem to work well. Essential Oils (which the Moringa balm is full of) can be very irritating to skin. I received the balm as a Christmas gift and my skin immediately went red and errupted in spots :(
I use coconut oil to remove make-up and follow up with a cleansing milk or gel - I've tried dozens of products and the majority don't work well or cause some kind of inflammation >.<

    4. I second the vote for LRP Tolériane. When my skin is having a strop, that and the Body Shop Calming Aloe cream cleanser are the only things that don't irritate it further.

  21. Hi Caroline, I have been using a new serum and moisturizer in my nighttime routine. I didn't have any immediate adverse reactions to the products but have lately, 2-3 weeks into, noticed bumps developing. When do you decide that a product is not working for you? Rebecca

  23. I would love to take part in this - really want to find an acid toner that works for me. I'm 32 with combination skin that is often dehydrated (I am teacher so always running out of time to have a drink, though wine is frequently needed!) Thanks!

  24. Hmm, Blogger seems to have eaten my comment! I have just subscribed to the Merumaya mailing list. Ta for already answering that yes, that is what we were meant to do, as I was wondering also.

For ease of reference, if the Merumaya people are perusing this post's comments, I'm 42 with extremely sensitive dry combination skin (dry to very dry cheeks, normal to dry T zone). I also have rosacea, and a host of allergies including most fragrances. So I would be either a fabulous or a horrible test subject for something like this ;-)

Can be quite dehydrated at times (teacher skin!) and I also suffer from bouts of sensitivity. Hope I get chosen!

  28. Very cool - just discovered acid toners and have seen a BIG difference in only a few weeks. I'm 27 years old, with normal to slightly oily skin. Can become quite dehydrated and do suffer with sensitivity (eyes swelled up like golf balls after using EH).

    Thanks Caroline

  32. Hi I'd love to try the Merumaya toner trial...I've never used a toner because my skin is dehydrated and dry I can literally use a serum, oil and moisturiser every night just to keep it normal! I'm 37 and would love to be chosen for the trial as I always assumed toners were drying? Thanks Jo
