Please take 10 seconds and answer my poll ---->

Hi All!

As I try and spend much more time on the blog (you may have noticed I was around a lot more in January) it would be really helpful to know I am heading in the right direction.
If you have 10 seconds - literally - would you mind answering the poll over there in the right hand column?----->
If you're reading this on your mobile you will need to switch to desktop view.
And if I have forgotten something please do leave a comment below!

I aim to please. There's no point me rambling on if no-one's listening. :)

Thank you so much!

    2. I second Sonia. I have loved the empties videos. Useful to know what you would/would not repurchase. And they provide a nice structure to your blog by starting each week with a vid. Hope you give them a chance to catch on if they don't get a ton of feedback. Have loved your blog this January/February.

      Also love info on:

      - Supplements and other lifestyle changes. (Thank you -- you have been an invaluable resource!)

      - Treatments -- whether home face massage or professional.

      Thank you!

  5. I would like to see videos of you doing your skincare routine and you should def do a tv series where you help randoms with their skin issues and help them to develop a good skincare routine.
Thats all :) You have time to make a tv show right? xo

    3. Not sure about a tv series but definitely approach the idea of tackling other people's skin, specific issues such as dry, oily, acne prone, rosacea, etc. discussing what to do/ routine/ products/ what not to do. A bit like what you probably do when you do clinics in person. But what also help is revisiting the people's skin say 6 weeks later and see the benefits. I realise each person will react differently to products etc and that your cheat sheets do approach this. But for us visually minded folks I think this would really help. Also I have terrible psoraisis all over but my face is where I tend to get down about as it is obviously on show all the time. I have been using neal's yard wild rose beauty balm which is amazing and definitely now know balms are best for nourishing my skin but not sure which ones to introduce and widen my skincare wardrobe. I would believe a post on this would be beneficial to many others. I would just like to say thank you so much for your contribution to skin and well being everywhere. You have really opened my eyes to what's possible and not the unachievable. Xx

    3. YES!! This would be awesome to be able to look up a cheat sheet for your skin type and then go to another cheat sheet for skin concerns. That would make it easier to know what you need for your specific skin and what products could help. Totally agree!!

  16. Poll completed! Caroline- I'd just like to say a massive thank-you for all the reviews, cheat sheets, youtube videos that you do. Your skincare advice has literally turned my skin around- thanks to you I no longer waste my time buying the wrong products (foaming skin washes etc)& by following your basic skincare rules,my skin has never been better. Thanks!!

  17. Skincare for 'older' followers - I’m a young at heart 60. Maybe a suggested list of good basic products from cleansers to nightcreams and everything inbetween! There's so much out there I don’t know where to start. I don’t have any particular skin concerns (apart from it being old!) and don’t mind splashing out a bit but don’t want to bankrupt myself completely! I've tried lots of products over the years but don’t ever see any real difference - maybe my expectations are too high or maybe I’m just ‘too far gone’! Today's 'Where should I spend most of my money' was really helpful - Many thanks

    1. Me too, I am 65. As a group I think that there is a good market for medium/higher cost skincare which is not being met, from people like me who have always tried to care for their skin particularly as everything anti-aging (I am already old LOL, but still want to look my best) uses airbrushed models of 25.

    2. I agree! At least when my skin acts up now I have an inkling of what to do instead of throwing my hands up in despair! 😱 Also, more specifics about which cleansers are better for makeup removal and which for skin cleansing. πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ’›πŸ’™πŸ’œπŸ’š

  20. So not only have you completely changed the way I look after myself and my skin, but you have helped me in other ways to. You have helped me understand skin care and the mechanics of it , I now cleanse , cleanse , cleanse -Emma Hardie cleansing balm is the cornerstone of my skincare routine and I have at least 3 differnt cleanser now for the removal of make up and for the benefits of my skin ( made such a massive difference to my skin within the first week) . Acid toners love love love them - layering products on to a clean base is my skin care mantra to everyone , a girl in the office told me that she used toilet roll to remove her makeup ( my reply in a caroline voice was toilet paper sis for you ar*e not your face). On another note I forced myself to watch you interview with liz Hurley (Breast Cancer ) I am ashamed to admit I had avoided it before my sister found out she has Breast cancer ,I had to watch it a few times as it was so emotional at that point I kept missing most of it . With your hep and advice I have put togther a recovery gift pack for my sister now she has had her masectomy and is making an epic recovery , I wanted to put together something for her to make her feel happy in her own skin and as I know theexperience the benefits of your recommendations and advice I wanted to pass this on to her to help with her recovery . You help people in more ways than you can ever imagine. THANK YOU , you are a inspirational Lady.

  22. Thank you for all the time & effort you put into your blog , I'm fairly new to your blog but I am now addicted to it, as much as I am addicted to beauty products :) Thank you Caroline you rock :)

  24. Hi Caroline! I can't find the poll but I thought I'd still add my 2 cents. :) I think your blog is brilliant. I enjoy the refreshing honesty and the way ingredients are broken down and discussed, the reviews are clear and really helpful in deciding whether to 'yay' or 'nay' a product. You also have a good mix of luxury, high-end, mid-range and budget brands. It would be cool to get a sense of non-European/American brands, if that's something you're dabbling in. I love the empties videos -- they're always chatty and engaging. It would be awesome if you would post your (1) how to cleanse with a balm/oil, (2) how to apply serum and eye cream videos. I recognise that this is a labour of love for you so thank you for all your time and effort and energy. It is much appreciated!
PS: my skin has never looked better! Positively glowing and it's a result of following your blog, converting to daily cleansing and mixing and matching skincare products! Like you say, it's the only face/skin you have so better take care of it!

  25. Hi Caroline, I'd love to know a bit more about the blog. For example, I'd love to know your moderation policy. I've never had a comment I've made appear on the blog...they have all been appropriate to the topic, polite etc! As a regular reader it would be really helpful to know why some comments appear and others don't. I understand it would be a ridiculously enormous task for you to answer all the queries you receive but when you spend time typing something and it doesn't even appear you feel a bit...I don't know, miffed! Understanding why you post some comments but not others would help :)

  30. Hi Caroline! Longterm reader here. I just filled out the poll and basically ticked everything… although 'new products' don't do as much for me as other posts because they don't showcase your expertise. The other thing I love that wasn't in your poll is your heads ups about GWPs and store promotions (which you don't seem to do so much these days). I realise these are probably tedious for non-UK readers, but I've got so many bargains/gifts thanks to your blog alerting me to deals. Thanks for everything you do. XXX

  33. I voted in the poll. I would be interested in posts on how to repair damage, such as sun-damage. I'm in my mid-twenties and am now attempting to care of my skin but I have definitely done all the wrong things in the past just because I didn't know. I was brought up by a mum who loves tanning, we hardly ever wore sun cream and always burned and then tanned.

  34. Love your blog and your YouTube videos. They are soo helpful and your style of writing, love it!!! Always laughing out loud at my desk... You are a LEGEND!!! 36. I found your blog this weekend and binge read the whole thing. Lots of great information here! I spend a lot of time on a motorcycle. I always wear a dedicated, high SPF sunscreen and reapply often. I also like to periodically swipe a gentle cleansing wipe over my face. When I get home I usually do a DIY clay mask with French and/or Bentonite powder miked with either honey or alcohol free witch hazel. But, when I think about the exhaust fumes and road grime (and random bugs) that are embedded in my skin...ick...it just doesn't feel like enough. I would appreciate it if you could provide some advice for a skincare routine, products/ingredients to look for would be so helpful, to use after a day on the bike.

  37. Reading through comments, it strikes me how many people ask for product recommendations, personal or otherwise. Since it's nearly impossible to do individual assessments with every blog post, I wonder if it would be useful to do a run-down FAQ of ingredients to look for, maybe sorted by skin condition or type. I see you explain it some in your reviews or what have you, but a list would be a good reference, a place to start.

    ReplyDelete
  38. Retinol cheat sheet please!!! Been waiting for it for months ever since you promised! Thank youuu <3

  40. Oh Wise Woman, thank you for everything you already do - my skin is so much better since I found you!

Looking over the cheat sheet from yesterday, it occurred to me it would be great to have some sort of database which lists CH-approved skincare by type; e.g. under cleansing balms, a list of your faves, along with links to your past reviews for more details. I realize that's a huge ask to set up, however!

Thank you for your skincare evangelism. I am a zealous convert! xxxx

  42. Hi Caroline, thanks for this useful post. You said you used serums around your eyes is any serum ok to use around your eyes. For example can you put a retinol serum around your eyes or good genes around yours eyes. Thanks very much I have been following your blog for a few years and everyone comments how glowing my skin is thanks to you!

  43. Can you do a cheat sheet on which products/ingredients should NOT be combined as part of the same am/pm routine? Maybe there are fellow newbies out there like me, wondering how not to do more harm than good:)

  44. Product equivalents in the more natural ingredients skincare of the Serums/toners etc that really make a difference. If I use brands like Pai am I missing vital treatments although since reading your advice I have introduced more active products and double cleanse but always wonder if simple skincare advice is appropriate for sensitive skin. Thank you for changing some of my skincare with your advice

  47. OK, mission completed!!! Well, I'd like... everything, basically, but maybe a post about at home mini-facials for mid 40's, and how you would layer products for en extra effect the next morning, say how you would do a double mask thing, and what you would use before and after it.
And maybe more mid-high range products, around the 50-70€ mark for moisturisers and serums.
And of course the long awaited facial massage (long and short/morning version)...

  51. I think you're doing a wonderful job! I too checked many boxes in your poll. I love anything you have to say and you are a joy to watch. Love your empties & reviews and what you would repurchase. I think the only thing I may be missing is a bit more help on what to look for when choosing a product. I know you give us so many recommendations already but some of your products are hard to find in the US so I have to modify. So any additional help on what to look for since there is SO much out there! You have inspired so many to take better care of their skin and I love your honesty and approach to skincare. Thank you!

  52. I have a "one pair of shoes" budget and am in Canada so many of the products you review are too expensive or not available here. I would to see some more info about what ingredients to look for or avoid for different conditions: acne, allergies etc...

  53. Hi Caroline

I've been an avid follower of your blog for several years and I love it. Thanks so much for your advice, my 40+ skin has really improved as a result of following your routines, hot cloth cleansing, Emma Hardie, Liquid Gold, serum etc etc. I love reading your reviews and cheat sheets and ticked nearly everything in your poll. It's all great stuff!

    Rose x.

  54. I'd really like to know products that you would go on to repurchase, I'm aware that you test soooo many products but I'd also like to know what your "backup routine" is - say when you have a reaction to something or just want to use a routine you know will work for you if you're in a pinch!

    ReplyDelete
  55. I would like to see more on how to incorporate Fake Tans into my current skin care routine to get the most benefit from the product. I have dry skin with hormonal acne on my chin/jawline. At the moment I am using Vita Liberata Untinted Gel in the evening after I have cleansed and used an acid toner. All the fake tans I have used all say not use with moisturiser as they will not be as effective. However I do not feel they are sufficient to use in place of a serum/moisturiser twice a week. I need the colour on my face as I can't pull off pale and interesting, especially with the spots. I just look pasty and ill!!!

    ReplyDelete
  56. I would love a post on hair removal! I can't find anything for lip/chin that doesn't leave me with whiteheads all over the area the next day and I am getting so frustrated (pro wax, at home wax with multiple brands both strip and warm wax, depilatory). My routine is otherwise working pretty well, but this is leaving me baffled!

    ReplyDelete
  57. I 1,000,000% echo the comments of others on here who have said that they would like to see more of what you actually use and think is great. Reviews are useful, as are cheat sheets, but I find the greatest testament to a product's usefulness is to see how much you like it. So I'm thinking along the lines of empties, 'best of', 'current routine', recommendations for diff products for diff skin types.

Thank you so so much for taking the time to do all of this Caroline. I hope you have some idea of the impact you have and the difference you are making!

Firstly, I LOVE reading your blog and my skin is grateful! So merci buckets for all the resources you make available to us. I've taken the poll but to be a little more specific:
    1. 'Budget' product recommendations - for those of us who are students etc and GENUINELY can't afford to be spending lots on skincare (I buy TBS and splurge on a couple of Indeed Labs serums but then I'm eating beans for a week!)
    2. Maybe a list of CH approved products sorted by skin type? Although I love trawling through the archives #stalkerface
    3. How To... Do the swipe, massage etc
Ok, sorry for the mega comment. Signing off now! Thanks agaaaain.
