International Women's Day

For all the women in my life. And the ones I will never know.

Celebrate International Women's Day with me. Because stories like this send me into a rage:

More women and children put in danger as safety net for those fleeing domestic abuse is 'dismantled piece by piece'

And because jokes like this are still in national newspapers:

Because of... well, you know, people like Pat Robertson

Because the stats from this post a few years ago haven't improved: www.carolinehirons.com/Internationalwomensday

For the women that taught me everything I know..

For the best girlfriends a woman could ask for

And for the strong woman we're raising

#IWD

AND FOR THIS LEGEND!

  2. Hell to the yea!

I think it's important to note that being a feminist does not equate being a man hater. It's about (to me) empowering women to do what THEY want.

If they want to be a stay at home mum, raising their family? Sure.
If they want to be a high-flying career mum? Absolutely!

Girls - it's up to YOU what YOU want to do and please don't let anyone else tell you different.

    1. No. It is not more important to note that being a feminist does not equate being a man hater than it is for non man haters to state that they believe in equal rights for all human beings no matter what,or no, gender you choose to identify as and recognising that there is a system preventing that

  13. I'm a feminist that believes women should be who and what they want and should not be held back or discriminated against because of their gender. Break those glass ceilings ladies! And Caroline, I am sure a lot of people would agree with me when I say that you are truly an inspirational woman. Thank you for all that you do for all your readers/followers, you are fantastic xx

  14. Great post. I often wonder what the world will (not would!) look like when gender equality becomes a reality across the world. Until then I keep oppressed women in my prayers and hope their condition swiftly evolves into a more peaceful and promising - for everyone involved! - way of life.

  15. Amen sister!
I can't believe we live in a world where we still have to explain that a feminist isn't someone who hates men, but rather pushes for equality of both genders.
I also can't believe we live in a world where there are still people who believe a woman's ever my step is to please a man. "You know boys don't like that much makeup" - and? I'm wearing this FOR ME.

  16. Damnit, I need to take up witchcraft! I knew something was missing in my feminist agenda (well, I'm not sure on the capitalism and I'm only half lesbian, but I do have no husband or children so nearly there...)

Seriously though, this is really well put. Much love!

  21. I actually interpreted that joke as a way to emphasis and promote feminism, because the premise was so ridiculous everyone would see how differently we treat men and women. All it was missing was a #Feminism at the bottom. There is often a grain of truth in jokes, and I have no doubt that our attitudes towards women is the reason there are few female astronauts.

  22. Happy International Womens day Caroline! Sorry for this annoying question but I am turning 30 in a week and i use many products that you recommend but i have always spent under 40pounds on skincare products and i want to buy the serum to end all serums! I was looking at EL advanced night repair maybe. I still can't afford to spend the earth just maybe 70 and under but i would love your opinion on any you think are worth it? No worries if you don't get to this question but thanks anyway for all your advice from Renee (not anonymous) xxxx

    1. Hi, I have read so many good reviews about it, but only a few posts ago Caroline said that it didn,t blow her mind. I don,t remember if it was in form of an answer to a question or a post.

    2. Thanks for replying. I searched the website and the original formula didn't blow Caroline away but the updated one was much better. Caroline tries so many new things though and sometimes it's nice to know what the ultimate is rather than the latest :) x

  27. Amen!

I'm desperate for som advices, so if there's anyone who reads this comment and has an idea, feel free to answer :) (it'd be very much appreciated)

I'm 25 years old, have combination skin (I think... that's what I've been told). I've got som acne scars from hormonal pimples - and I get new pimples once a month and they most of the time leave scars or tend to stay red for many many maaany months). I've also got pigmentations from when I was pregnant. I'm also very dehydrated.

SO, what ingredients in my serum/night moisturiser should I look for? If you have any suggestions for products, bring them on :)

    1. And another question about a product my skin therapist recommended for me: Paula's choice Resist intensive repair cream. One of the top ingredient is petrolatum?!?!?! I purchased the product because I trusted the skin therapist, without even looking at the ingredient list... Should I toss it in the bin or keep on using it?

  28. Best post ever :-)

Also something that comes to my mind on the subject of "strong women who knows how to find their way in this world": When I read through the comments here there are some people who asks for advise one their skin, this is after all a blog focused on skin care, so nothing strange in that I guess :-) BUT, believe me, there are tonnes written in this blog about products, ingredients, acne, dry skin, petroleum, etcetera. I'm pretty sure most people can find some guidance if they just put some effort into it and go through/search for the information. Don't just stand there as "helpless women". Look for the answers yourself!

Plus you are so so so funny! And I must say that you Mother's skin is INCREDIBLE! Just goes to show that growing old is not necessarily as awful as it is made out to be. Just need to look after ourselves, always and in the right way! You rock Caroline.
