What's New? with Ruth from A Model Recommends

Finally! We managed to take time and do some filming. It's a long one but frankly we could have gone on for hours. Thank you for both your patience and for watching.

Ruth's channel has our 'Favourites' video and is in the description box below this video (click 'watch on You Tube in the bottom right corner) along with all the products mentioned.

Next week is all things pregnancy. Ruth - not me! :)

  5. I'm really getting into Kate Somerville now...and a host of others, thanks to your blog and videos. But this is presenting me with a concern: I now have so many products that I'm worried they'll start going off before I've used them up. Do I really need to bin things after 90 days? Because there's no way I'll get through all of it, as I'm only doing my routine twice a day (or three times if it's a gym day). This is making me nervous about acquiring new products. How do you approach this?

    1. I haven't seen the bin things after 90 days comment but as someone who still has usable products ( a sulphur based toner by Helena Rubinstein) that are over 30 years old I would take it with a pinch of salt. Other than the old eye make up = eye infection issue I think as long as a product doesn't smell off or change texture (get too thick or separate/curdle) it should be fine to use with the proviso that the active ingredients will lose their efficacy over time. At least this is my take on it. If I had to throw out all my over 3 month products I wouldn't have any left!

    2. Thanks, Zah. I was a beauty blogger back in the day (2004 until around 2009) and one of the reasons I stopped was because I was so overwhelmed with the volume of product coming my way. Even though I gave loads away, it was a lot of work to get through it and I started to feel like a hoarder. Now that I'm spending my own money on everything, I really want to make extra sure none of it goes off! (And I have saved certain products for years, too. I have a Dermablend concealer I still use daily that I bought in 2009. Yikes.)

    3. Sorry for barging in, but you wouldn't be the lovely Jackie Danicki of the jackandhill- beautyblog?

  6. You two are so funny! Aways a pleasure to watch :)
I was wondering if you could do a post/cheatsheet (or a good reference) of which oils do what i.e. which ones would be more for for anti-aging vs another which is best for brightening etc.
I just find it a bit hard to choose which combinations of oils would be best for me (oily congested acne-prone) and are effective when looking at ingredient lists of products.
    Thanks a lot!!x

  10. I do so love these videos, Ruth has that pregnant glow thing happening! But yes, there isn't anything much better than watching 2 beauty obsessed people share their likes with each other! Mostly because we can all relate so well. I need a friend like this!
