Sali Hughes is the reason I discovered your blog which has become a daily addiction ever since. And you are the reason I have developed a new found love of skincare. So this video was like a BOGOF! Thank you so much to you both. Can't wait for the next installment.
My two favourite ladies! !!!! Awesome! !!!!
I will have to check Sally's channel then. First time discovery for me. If you are in it, I'm watching it :)Alinawww.eclecticalu.blogspot.com
I have been looking forward to this and enjoyed watching I can understand people's reaction towards your help and advice, I have rosacea and have been advised to use a foaming cleanser and Aveeno cream my worst nightmare combined and your work and knowledge offer people like me a light at the end of the tunnel I know that sounds dramatic but it's true! Big fan!! Can't wait for part 2!! X
Hi,Why is Aveeno bad? My dr has told me to use it for my rosacea and I'm unsure whether to use it :/
I've been eagerly anticipating this!! Loved it you two are just so real! I can't wait for the second part!!! LeviJade xx
Really loved this, enjoyed every second. Just a great chat and love how well you get on together ☺️
Hi Caroline, I think I might have just accidentally posted a comment using my old user name (kokobamba - it's taken me flipping ages to change that to my real name!) but just in case I just wanted to say that I would probably get quite weepy too if I met you, the difference you've made to my skin since I found your blog a year ago has been astronomical! I have had a lot of health problems over the years and also have PCOS and suffer from acne as a result, I had completely clear skin all through my teens but as soon as I hit 21, bang! It just kept getting worse and worse no matter what I did, I now know why: foaming face washes and alcohol denat laden products the cystic breakouts start within hours of using anything with the latter in! AHA and BHA products have made the biggest difference and gentle cleansing I love it when I get comments from friends and family telling me my skin is so much clearer now, I still get some spots but hardly any cystic, deep angry nasty-bane-of-my-life nightmares anymore! So thank you, thank you, thank you, you have restored a good portion of my lost confidence! Please keep up the amazing work that you do! Xxx
That was so lovely, and just made me like and respect both of you even more! So thoughtful, smart, and genuine!
Caroline, it was wonderful to be able to "have you" for an hour! Can´t wait for part two. Thank you for all the work you, your thoughts and "inviting" us to your home. Much, much appreciated!xo
I can't wait until part 2! X
As a working mum I found this totally inspiring and I can't go back to having a boss either. And I should mention you have completely transformed my skin too. Thank you!
Caroline (and Sali!), I really loved this. I actually welled up when you spoke of meeting Ms. Chantecaille. Recounting those transformational experiences, moments where our lives take an obvious turn for the better, to allow us to fulfill our potential to be the best of who we are and what we have to offer the world, always makes me choke up. Those stories are so human and so moving. I love hearing them. It's a blessed person indeed who is able to accept herself and see how the traits that make her stand out and sometimes rub people the wrong way are actually what enable her to bring the best of herself to others and her own life. And to be able to pay the bills with it? Pffft, no one's luckier. I feel that way about my own good fortune and am always so moved to see others succeed in the same way. I hope anyone younger who's watching is paying attention to the message in this video. Don't bemoan your quirks: Make sure they aren't an excuse for you to hurt others* and if they're not, see how they are going to be the key to living the best, most meaningful life you can.* I have no time for the "I'm too honest, me, that's my problem!" type who just spouts off and hurts people. There's a big difference between that and being candid about oneself and the world.
great post. yes, yes and yes absolutley. Couldn't agree more with all of it. Also my bank manager will be wanting a word.
Oh, AND...I have to add that you have totally changed my skin. I haven't had what I consider to be 'bad' skin since I was a teenager (and even then it was just garden variety acne). But in December, I fell down the rabbit hole of your cheat sheets and archives, made my way through all your YouTube reviews, and since adopting your routines and so much of your guidance on products, supplements, etc, my skin is incredible. I get so many comments from people that I glow and look amazing that it cannot just be my imagination. I will be 38 next month and this week a colleague told me she'd thought I was 30. I STRONGLY suspect she is really bad at guessing ages, but I'll take it anyway. It's not all about age: I want to be able to feel as confident as possible so I can be most useful in all areas of my life, and to myself. I don't want to feel I need to hide my light for any reason. Your routines and guidance have given me a new boost of light and I'm so grateful. (PS My bank manager would like a word...!)
Hello. You're an inspiration. I'm officially too lazy to stick to my beauty routine but still LOVE your blog. If someone asked me who is it that I'd invite to dinner if I could invite anyone - I'd be you. And Tao Lynch.
I just love the two of you. I'm touched by how you support each other as women and colleagues. By the way Caroline, my face is far from perfect, but just your suggestions for cleansing the face have made a huge change in the appearance of my skin. I'm happy with it. It's as if my skincare products can work now. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
Absolutely brilliant video. Loved every minute of it. So interesting. Love Sali Hughes too. Can't wait for Part 2👍👍👍
This was amazing! I love you both! I'm excited to hear what you think about Natura Bissé. I love their products. Same as African Botanics. Absolutely INCREDIBLE. <3333 You're awesome!
I love love loved the video!! I think I have more respect for you than I already did. Can't wait for part two!! Diana www.littlemissfangirly.blogspot.com
So glad you decided to do the videos with Salli! Quick question--do you have a master list of your hall of fame products? I've searched through the blog and can't seem to find one. Thank you! (and sorry if this is a double post, I don't usually do comments so I'm new at this)
Hi there, try this: http://www.carolinehirons.com/search/label/Hall%20of%20FameI.E click ' hall of fame ' on the list of tags over ---> which you can see if you're not on a mobile phone. An amazing video! I can't wait for part 2 !
I have watched all of sali Hughes in the bathroom series, and I was ecstatic when I heard she was going to do one with you as well. And the video has been so worth the wait. Thank you to sali Hughes team. And to you Caroline for allowing us readers a glimpse into your house and life. I love love skincare. I dont care much for makeup. It was only after discovering you that having an obsession for skincare is perfectly normal. Thankyou thankyou.
There's nothing better than two smart and opinionated experts talking skincare. Rock on, ladies!
Thank you! Loved this! Love you! Love Sali! Bring on part 2!! xx
This was fascinating and funny. Was great to hear the full story of your career and blog in such a frank, down to earth manner. I also loved the little aside stories like when your Mum brought the whole Helena Rubinstein drawer home from work! Reminded me of "borrowing" some of my Mum's Helena Rubinstein honey skin tonic and skin life cream as a skincare obsessed teen :-) (sad that such a once trailblazing brand got sucked into the L'Oreal monster and sidelined - Ms Rubinstein must be fuming from up on high!) Also related to the story of starting with Clarins before moving onto other brands - I remember buying a large bottle of Clarins toner with some of my birthday money ( but secretly wishing I could have afforded Erno Laszlo!) I really don't know how you cope with receiving so much product though - those Muji drawers would drive me insane - what to use first and how long to give it before trying the next thing! Yikes. Not sure me or my skin could cope with that so thanks for doing all the testing legwork and filtering the best products through to us through the blog. Look forward to part 2 ( though my bank account may not! ) :-)
Fantastic ...this really really made my weekend what brilliant insights into your life and your thinking . I have the utmost respect for all the advice you give us here for free ! But that you reminded us its OK to be in your 40's ( I'm 44 but thanks to you no one believes it !) , that you don't have to look like a super model and its fine to be your real self even if that doesn't suit everyone else was great ...I haven't felt so positive about being me for ages thank you xCan't wait for part 2 !!
Really enjoyed watching that! Thank you so much!P.s if you ever need an extra face for a tester...look no further...those draws of goodies are like a sweet shop to me :) :) :)
You're a true legend Caroline! All power and health to you x
I got into bed checked my youtube and screamed with exciting saying to my hubby omg I have to watch this I love these two ladies am so excited... he was like what are you watching porn.. ha..I said yes darling Skincare Porn!
I am saving part 1 for when the part 2 releases so I can watch it all in it's glory !!! / Carola Svedberg
This video is interesting and disturbing at the same time..so much money and resources put into creams and potions while around the world women struggle to get enough food for their families and make it through another day. There is something stomach turning about so much STUFF. I do have an interest in skincare and beauty but as I get older and wiser I just find it all too much. I just keep thinking how much money we pour into these products-so much vanity, so much obsession.
I partly agree. I agree about 'the stuff'. That's why I started Give and Makeup (tab above blog posts on main page). I don't think it's vanity or obsession. Obviously it CAN be for extremes, but the industry employs and feeds a LOT of families.... We just have to do what we can with what we have to help others.
Absolutely loved this video! Sat through the hour without even feeling like a minute had gone by. Would honestly watch you and Sally talk all day! Perfect video and you share the sentiments I feel about the beauty, blogging and vlogging world! Can't wait for the next one :)Emily xwww.emandthem.co.uk
Just enjoyed this relaxing in bed, looking forward to part 2!
This was really interesting, because it wasn't just about the skincare but all the stuff behind it. I do admit I had never heard of Sali Hughes so it has been interesting finding out more about her as well (and she is from the same area as I am, result!). And how you got started in the industry and the work that you have done in the industry, which, forgive my ignorance, I didn't know about you. And it has made me really appreciate your honesty about products.
I watched it yesterday, waiting for Part 2- like a greedy person
I really loved this video, great getting to know more about you Caroline x
I love you both, and you Caroline have really helped me to make my skin look better. I finally found the P50 lotion in Rome , most awfuk and poshiest place....but great product. Thanks
Caroline you're amazing! I love your personality.Still waiting for your box to arrive)
I can't wait to see the second video with your product storage. This was really inspirational. The Josie Maran argan oil products are lovely.
Very enjoyable to watch :)Lu | www.balgarka.co.uk
On a week of nights this week so was saving this video for a little pick me up. Job done!!!!!! Although it is is slightly worrying that I only lasted to pre night 3 before breaking it out, oh well! Was uber excited to see this going up, two of my favourite blogging /skin care aficionados together, goes without saying! Could listen to the two of ye chat, tell stories and discuss products to infinity. As you say Caroline it's about being relatable. One knows that with the two of you we'll get honest info and practical solutions and ye are pretty cool, funny and a tad sarcastic at times in delivery! It's just all good! Looking forward with bated breath to part 2 and to eying up your buys from the US in preparation for my own trip.(Also much love to Sali too as commenting is deleted on the video xxxx)
Loved this! Sally Hughes is amazing x
Hi Caroline, can you recommend a face mask, something to use before a special occasion to give a glow. Skin type: 40, normal to combination in need of a bit of umph! Thank you in advance:) :) :) x
Hi Caroline,I'd heard your name mentioned by lots of bloggers but it wasn't until I watched this video a few months ago that I actually saw you/heard you talk about skincare and boy, did I wish these videos were longer! I got the bug for beauty when I worked at an independent department store buying beauty and fashion accessories, went on lots of brands training and spoke to lots of customers, so hearing you talk about your experience had me reminiscing about my lovely ladies in my department who would know what someone needed in moments and if someone was hesitant would give them a little sample to try instead of trying the hard sell that you get in some stores. They had such a loyal customer base! Aaaaanyway, this was just meant to be a short comment to say I love the way you talk about beauty, how honest and genuine you are and how glad I am I found your blog!
