Cult Beauty Box important update!

Ok lovely people I am told that the numbers are swelling on the wait list. It is highly unlikely that there will be any boxes left once the wait list sale closes.

The lovely people at Cult Beauty are hard at work packing up the boxes ready for.......

THURSDAY.

Don't be disappointed!

Things to remember:
  • There is no obligation to buy on the wait list - it just gives you first dibs
  • It's £195 - value just under £400
  • Ships Internationally

See you Thursday ;)

I got to the checkout and went to process my card and it kept saying it was declined and I knew for darn certain it was fine and had plenty to use it. I switched cards and Thank the Lord Jesus I got it!! I think because I'm in the US (Hawaii) there must have been a block for international purchases on that particular card because it had been hacked in the past.

Anywho..Yay!! I can't wait to share (well show, not share,actually...I don't plan to share this with anyone,.lol) it with all my friends! 57. Hey Caroline,
I'm SO SO sad right now because I joined the wait list for this box daaaaays ago and then never received a notification for the wait list sale!! Only for the general one I guess and now its all sold out! It makes it seem so pointless that I even bothered to sign up for the wait list. And if I hadn't done that because I knew this would happen I would have checked cult beauty every 10 mins for updates! Really sad about :( In fact considering not purchasing from Cult beauty ever again (am a regular customer who buys tonnes of Rahua, Emma Hardie, Alpha H and Tata...)

I got my entry email at 15:29! 15:29 it was posted from Cult beauty? I threw myself on my IPad managed to get the box and was just about to hit the checkout button. When the page suddenly refreshes and I am told the item is sold out????!!!!

What the H....??? I did not even get one minute to do my order from when I got my mail from Cult... That does not feel ok, actually...
I get it the box is popular and in demand... But I signed up weeks ago, kept checking the mail and this blog religiously and checked my email since I woke up today... I did my part... And I never had a chance...
This has to be improved for the future... And I still want my box...
I mean. If this was a contest or the box could only be won... But as a loyal customer at Cult, (I really am), I am asked to shell out 195 £ for this, (which it is worth). But then you guys have to make sure that there are enough boxes so at least the people signing up have a chance to buy it...

I will feel disappointed for weeks about this... It is not fair... :(

I hope you and Cult Beauty will please do another run for the people who missed out. I don't want to be a pooper Caroline, but there were some technical issues. 96. Another very disappointed beauty lover here😔I signed up ages ago and my husband was planning on buying for me as my Christmas present. I could see from the twitter sphere that some people had managed to buy the box, yet I hadn't received my e mail. When I eventually received my e mail at 14:38, the box had sold out. Caroline- I think this was an amazing box, great value given the contents and well done to you. However, I am extremely annoyed at cult beauty. Why create a wait list if you simply do not have the stock and leave a tonne of customers disappointed? I will also never buy from cult beauty again- why build al the hype if so many of us were never going to be able to buy the box? I'll be sticking with Space nk, feelunique, look fantastic etc from now on.

  97. I feel really sad/angry reading some of these comments. Caroline Hirons has put all her favourite products in one box and has sold them at a half price discount to anyone who reads the blog or is subscribed to her YouTube channel. Just because some of you havnt got there in time doesn't mean it's Caroline's fault there will be other boxes I'm sure. You will always have a die hard fan here no matter what even if I miss out getting the next box. Your knowledge in skincare, blog and your YouTube channel is amazing let the bad comments go over your head. :)

    1. Thank you so much. I needed to read that before I went to bed! There are not endless boxes, we did nothing different, less people signed up for this than the other two boxes. There was no way of knowing how quickly they would sell. I'm so sad that people are so angry. It was always going to be a Limited Edition.
Thank you for taking the time to comment. I really appreciate it.

    2. Could not agree more @cooke434BlogLife. Caroline, thank you for all that you do. Everyone needs to remember this generous guru is giving us all of this wonderful advice and help for free, out of the kindness of her heart! None of us are paying her ;) And any end-user problems customers experience with a totally separate and distinct company are nothing to do with CH. It is a ridiculous deal, with basically four prime products for free, and therefore always going to be only a limited number available. Nothing sinister or 'mean' in the process. Thank you Caroline for all that you do!

      Delete
    3. The simple reality with ANYTHING that has a waitlist is that there is a chance it will sell out. There is no guarantee of numbers, so all the people who are surprised it sold out so quickly are missing some common sense. The fact that they are imposing their expectations and taking their frustration on you is completely unfair and uncalled for. You're a gem for putting this box together - beautiful products and at amazing value! Thank you for you.

      Delete
    4. These are high end skincare products which are not made in unlimited quantities to be stocked until they are eventually sold by the founders of these companies. It was generous of the founders to allow their products to be included in Caroline's dream beauty box. It is also demonstration of their professional respect for Caroline and her followers . These companies must make a profit from the the products they produce. They could not have supplied an unlimited number of each of these products because the demand for these beauty boxes could not have been determined based on a wait list. A name on a wait list does not guarantee a sale.

The depth of entitlement and lack of appreciation and gratitude for the opportunity to have the chance to purchase one of these limited edition beauty boxes is profoundly stunning to me. Apologies are due to Caroline.

Thank you again Caroline and Cult Beauty.

    5. Totally agree. Very grateful for all the info and obvious hard work that goes into this blog and the videos. Thank you for sharing:)

    6. The problem is not that it sold out unexpectedly fast... The problem is Cult Beauty sends out the access link in chunks, which means many who signed up, never got a chance to order... It is not about not ordering fast enough and then missing the game... I tried to order 30 seconds after I got my mail, but the box was sold out more than an hour earlier... That is where the unfairness comes in...
Also a question... How could anyone who have not signed up in advance be able to buy the box at all, before people who did sign up even got their access mail? And how come some have been able to buy more than one?
Since the hype around Ms Hirons blog and her boxes are so huge at the moment combined with the very exclusive content of this box, with a great value for the buyer, a three year old could have anticipated how fast these boxes would fly off the shelf... There should be a much larger amount of boxes for this to work out. Or at least a plan B wit the possibility of making more boxes should the campaign be successful...

I must say however that the Cult Beauty Team are much more aware of the problems this caused for so many of us who put of time from work, and sat by our computers from early morning trying to make sure not to miss out on this box... (Also considering the time of year with Christmas coming up). And the huge disappointment it causes when you sign up to buy something, you never get the chance to buy... It would be a huge different story if one got the access mail, and then sat around and farted for hours before trying to place an order... But that is not what happened. And Ms Hirons knows that. Or at least the Cult Beauty team does!!
I am sure they will try to find a way to make this right for the future... But it is not serious, in my opinion, to even question that people get disappointed and even angry. This did not turn out very well...
Bottom line. Very good value, exquisite products that everybody wants. A not good system for sending out the access emails, and finally not nearly enough boxes, and no plan B if things sold out too fast... And just a few weeks before Christmas...

  98. Caroline I'm sorry you have been inundated with messages of disappointment (myself included). No harm was intended. Your expertise and opinions are always appreciated. Thank you for curating such a lovely, lust worthy box.

  99. I'm also surprised by all the angry reactions. I thought it was very clear from the start that it was limited edition, and had alternative plans for my cash in case I didn't get it. Get a grip! It's just a box of skincare. Heavily discounted, yes (and thanks to Caroline Hirons and the people at Cult Beauty for making these boxes happen) but at the end of the day, just skincare.

    1. Agreed. I understand disappointment if you didn't get a box but some of these comments are rather dramatic. It's skincare people. Happy holidays to you Caroline--thanks for doing what you do.

    2. Couldn't have said it better myself. I'm so disappointed in the way people are acting over this. It's a box of skincare products for goodness sake! The world is not going to end because it sold out. This is why so many small businesses have a hard time. People place walmart size stock expectations on them and it's impossible for them to keep up. Apparently everyone missed the memo about this being limited edition. If missing out on a discounted box of skin care is the worst thing to happen to the angry people in these comments then I think their lives are pretty darn good.

    3. Exactly! I think some of these people should feel a little embarrassed today.

      Talk about first world problems!

  101. Seriously people, calm down and step away from the keyboard. What's wrong with you??! You didn't get a box? Neither did I but it was always going to be incredibly popular and cult beauty could only stock so many. You are not entitled to a box. They are a SMALL company stocking SMALL producers of beautiful skincare and this was an incredible offer. The timing of the email could never suit everyone with every different job, in different time zones with different internet access arrangements and yes, some people didn't get them in the end but take a breath and calm down. Peace, love and good skincare...

  102. I think people are upset because emails may not have been sent out in the order people joined the wait list. I was lucky enough to secure a box and feel for the people who didn't . It is important to note that technology doesn't always run smoothly and you always need a back up plan . So if you didn't get a box this time treat yourself to something nice in lieu. I am sure Cult Beauty will review their procedures as no one wants disgruntled customers. Hopefully come the next box tempers will have cooled and things will run more smoothly.

  104. I cannot believe my good luck in getting one, having missed out on the previous box. I can understand people's disappointment, but there is no place for any slagging off when it was obvious that this would be another sell-out. Sadly though there do seem to have been some technical problems as people who had signed up early had clearly not received an e-mail. I think it should wither be first come first served to be mailed or advertised as random.

Caroline and Cult Beauty thank you for putting this together, I cannot imagine how hard everyone at such a small company must be working, I hope the bad feeling does not jeopardise potential future boxes.

  105. Maybe we should all be thankful that we are in a position to spend this amount of money on luxury items. Reading Caroline's text on the women who flee violence with nothing makes me so thankful. Missing out on a box isn't the end of the world.

    1. Peg, very well said!

I've been one of the '1 in 4' women who will experience domestic abuse in their lifetime. Thankfully I am now with a wonderful partner who offered to get me this box for Christmas. I decided if I did manage to get one, I would match the cost with a donation to my local Women's Shelter. Doesn't matter if I have or have not got a box (only Santa knows....), I've made my donation. X

    2. Well done you! Lovely gesture and I'm glad you've got your life back. Hope Santa is good.x

  107. There are a lot of really good suggestions on improvement: Abolish the waitlist and just put up a time and date of a stocking time so all of our hearts can race and we can all curse slow internet instead of swearing off good advice and luxury items.

I missed out, but I am okay with that. Next box! Because there will always be another one. And it might be better.

Thank you Caroline for all that you do! I appreciate following a beauty guru who not only tells it straight but tends to promote products that are also as ethical as possible. Thank you. xoxox

And thank you Cult Beauty for the opportunity to buy such products. xoxo

  109. After reading all these angry remarks I just wanted to come on here and say to Caroline that you are awesome! I'm really disappointed in the way people are acting over this. We all knew this would sell out and being angry with you and the wonderful girls over at Cult Beauty doesn't help anyone. I'm sorry if any of the meanies got to you! It's not fair that people are taking their frustrations out on you.

  110. Hmmmm, not sure about others', but I'm not angry with Caroline at all, just dev estates about missing out on the box and annoyed about the fact that I still haven't received an email when I signed up on the first notification about the box. Reading the comments, I hear disappointment rather than anger from people. I love Caroline and understand Cult Beauty had a difficult job here. Unfortunately this doesn't take away the disappointment. Caroline has changed my skin for the better and I will continue to love her blog, videos and blog!!

  111. Caroline, I am so sorry that you have to read any of the negative stuff that's been written in the comments today. You had a LIMITED EDITION BOX that SOLD OUT! Kuddos to you! I'm unsure why people are pointing the finger at you, and I'm not quite sure why Cult Beauty would be to blame either. It was said from the beginning that there would be a limited number of the boxes made, and that they would sell out quickly. I think the sell out in record time speaks to your branding as a skin care consultant and your popularity in the world of Blogging/Vlogging. I, for one, am wicked proud that another female has been super successful at what she loves to do! Congrats and Aloha!

  112. I was so afraid of missing the box that I yesterday signed up with my another email. Today (4.40AM western Canadian time) I received the email to my first email address, I ordered really quickly (still didn't get a confirmation email) and exhale... 20 minutes later I received email to my second email address (signed up yesterday!). I was curious and went to check if it is still available and it was.
I think, next time may be it should be less advirtisement for the box? I know Caroline and CB need more people but I guess the incredible success of the previous boxes says louder than anything else. And I guess since the edition is so limited we don't need more new people. May be it is too selfish, but it is my opinion. I have bragged before about the box#2 and got some questions about it and didn't reply, cause I don't want more competition than we have already.

  113. Mrs. H, I got mad love for you. Full stop. Am 100% in agreement with the commenters above who have articulated all the wonderful reasons why we appreciate you; we are so so grateful to you; we know and love that you support women, always; and, you bring a lot of joy to a lot of people worldwide. In an industry that can be very superficial, you are a person of substance. Please do not let the ranty emotional responses get you down. We got mad love for you.

Speaking of you ranty people, I totally get that you were disappointed, but for the love of god, it's a LUXURY item. If you have 195 pounds to buy this box, even if you had to scrimp and save for it, you are a lucky person. Please remember that Paris was less than a month ago. And in the just the last few days, there's been another horrific shooting in California. Life is so much more than a beauty box (however wonderful the box). In these times, and particularly in the holiday season, maybe take a moment to appreciate what you have and all that you can do for others - a generous spirit and a kind smile will light up your face more than any moisturizer ever could.

And now, Cult Beauty - props to you and your staff. It could not have been easy to make this all happen, and your profit margin could not be so high given the amazing savings. I am a problem solver by nature and it seems a shame to me that Cult Beauty may lose customers because of the ordering issues. So, here are my unsolicited two cents for what could be improved for the next box, if there is one:

    1. The function of the wait list seems to be to allow those who signed up to have a chance to get a box. Those not on the wait list are essentially not able to purchase this box because all stock will be snapped up by those on the wait list.

    2. Even those on the wait list may not get a box - that is the nature of limited editions. However, I think the dissatisfaction was not so much "I didn't get a box" as it was that no matter how much effort people made, they effectively did not have the same chance to get the box. If the ordering process functions essentially as a randomized draw (within the subset of those on the wait list), then to manage people's expectations, it would be better to be described as such.

If I've gotten this wrong, many apologies! And speaking of apologies, sorry that this post is so long and rambly. Love to all.

  114. The disappointing element here is that we all signed up knowing it was limited edition and a bargain. Where this isn't fair and good customer service is when opportunities to buy are staggered, in clearly a random order and some willing customers don't ever receive their email and opportunity to buy. If it's limited then perhaps it's fairer to adopt a similar approach to gig tickets, announce a time and it's first come first served. Everyone understands then that they all have as much chance as everyone else.

    1. The opportunity to buy was staggered so the website didn't crash... They are a small company with limited server space so they staggered the emails. They have done it like that each time and explained why. They had stock left over for general sale last time so did it the way that worked last time.
I'm not sure that what had happened is bad customer service, just very high demand on a limited edition.

  115. I have read comments on various sites and social media where those who didn't get a box have posted that they are devastated, angry and even crying. Come on people - get a grip! Disappointed and gutted I can understand but surely the rest is a tad extreme? Have you not read what is happening in our world right now? How lucky are we that we live somewhere that we are able to contemplate spending almost £200 on beauty products?! Please put things in perspective, yes it's a lovely box, yes many are left disappointed but this morning you have woken up safe and warm - spare a thought for those who haven't. Sorry rant over! As an aside, keep complaining and I doubt Caroline or Cult Beauty will bother doing another collaboration and that would be a shame for ALL of us xx

  116. To all the defenders....it´s ot the fact that box was not achieved at the end of the day, it´s that anyone would feel fooled that´s annyping. Cult beauty, if you knew there were 100 boxes available why did you accept 1000 people, giving false expectations? That is the point!

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Not defenders, just people asking for a bit of perspective from some who are being so over the top with their reaction to not getting a limited edition box of skincare and their expectations. When you signed up, you were registering an interest in buying the box. You were guaranteeing you would buy the box and they weren't guaranteeing you a box. Read the comments of people who decided not to buy in the end or people who registered 5 different email addresses but only wanted one box and it explains why the wait list may not indicate actual sales. No one was fooled. Cult beauty are a small company and there was never going to be an endless supply of boxes. I'm guessing they had to order the stock a long time ago and therefore did their best to estimate demand based on previous sales of the boxes. Remember the last one went on general sale? The point is surely, yeah it's disappointing if you missed out this time but just get some perspective with some of the comments...

  117. I was about to write the same thing! Bravo lady! This vindictiveness must stop! Wars are raging! People have lost everything (see Caz's recent post!!). Peace and love guys. Peace and love.

  118. By the time I received the email and went on Cult Beauty, the box had already sold out.

Am I disappointed? Yes, the box contained really amazing products and was excellent value for money. This is the first Hirons box where I knew I would have used every single product and I was rather looking forward to it.

Am I devastated/ distraught/ in tears/ was my life ruined? Ladies please... It is always annoying to miss a bargain, especially one as fantastic as this one. But... Surely there are worse things that could happen?... At least some people were lucky enough to have been able to benefit from his Hirons/Cult Beauty collaboration: don't you agree that it's better than if NO ONE had had the chance to grab a box?

    Perspective, people, perspective...

  119. For you ladies who didn't get the box and have some money to spend, a suggestion: why don't you help the children Caroline posted about? Think how many trousers/socks that £195 could buy! I am going to the post office today.

  120. To you queen hirons and cult beauty I salute you at this time I cannot believe the venom and child like behaviour via some of these messages at the end of the day and in the grand scheme of things it is only skincare we all love it but we can survive without it I can understand people's disappointment but going on like some people have isn't acceptable. we have to remember cult beauty is a small company and so we're alot of the brands in the box may lindstrom blue cocoon takes months to make by hand and yes there might have been a bit of a mess up with emails at some point but it is first come first serve. Let's all just take a breath and chill out xx

  121. I've been devoted to Caroline's blog since its beginnings, and the wonderful advice that she gives us all for free has totally transformed my skin. This offer was amazing, but we all knew it was limited and would sell out super fast. Things don't always go perfectly, even with the best laid plans. Shouldn't we be thanking her for all she does for us and for others, rather than raging because we missed out this time?

  122. As a loyal reader of Caroline's who has genuinely appreciated and followed her advice for years, I feel so sad to see all the criticism being heaped on her and on Cult Beauty. It's terrible to be disappointed - and I get that everything is relative - but please, please try to replace some of that disappointment with gratitude for being fortunate enough to be in a position to buy such a luxurious treat. I'm sure every one of you have worked hard to get to a point where you could do so - which is amazing!

Huge congratulations to Caroline, who must be feeling a bit beleaguered but is held in high regard by all of us.

  124. This box had everything I could want...things I was desperate to try like the Blue Cocoon. But I didn't get it. Devastated!!! My purse was stolen a few days ago, all my cards were used (contactless), and the replacements only arrived yesterday - just minutes too late to buy the Box of Dreams. No silver lining to that cloud...thanks robbers!

  125. And thank you, Caroline and CB, for curating such a fab box to begin with. Sad not to get one (purse robbers' fault, not CH or CB, in my case) - I might just splash out on The Blue Cocoon to ease the disappointment. And thanks to Caroline for the weekly blogs - look forward to them so much.

  126. Caroline, your advice has transformed my skin: I thank you and salute you. I didn't receive an email either, so came on here to find out what happened. Like others, I feel that sobbing over a discounted price on luxury unguents is a bit self-indulgent. This is what really made me sob, just this morning on the tube on the way to work, reading an article about the migrants' plight now winter is here: "aid workers in Serbia talk of mothers unable to look after their children after two weeks on the road in appalling conditions". (from The Economist Nov 28th).

  127. Glad to finally be reading some sensible and supportive comments. I was quite shocked at the outrage and sense of entitlement displayed in some comments I read. It's clearly a limited edition box, obviously people feel disappointed if they miss out especially if they feel they should have got an email but really you just have to move on and hope for better luck next time. I'd like to say thank you to Caroline and Cult Beauty for all the advice and amazing offers and discounts you give us.

  129. Thanks Caroline for putting together such a winner of a box! I had been hoping you were going to do a Christmas box and couldn't believe it when there were so many things in this one that I wanted to try.
Seeing as your boxes are tremendously popular, and demand always exceeds expectation, I wondered about using the Rafflecopter type system in the future? People interested are put into the 'lottery of being offered to buy a box'.
I wonder whether a pre-order type system might be another option- but I know that some products are more high end/ artisan so that might not work eg there could be a worldwide shortage of P50 if you put that into a box with that in (lovely 50ml size available now!) as BR only make limited amounts!!!
A final option might be that Cult Beauty upgrade their purchase webpage to be able to better handle large volume time limited sales. I contacted them already to suggest it.
Finally, its easy to criticize people for expressing emotions in a way that you might not personally do. But we are all of different cultures and backgrounds and we have no idea why the Beauty Box might seem so super-important to someone and why. Maybe they had a miscarriage last week. Just saying. xxx

Caroline, I wish you hadn't seen these comments as I am sure you are hurt by them, particularly given all that you've done for us.

I, for one, am grateful you'd even stick your neck out there to make these discounted products a reality.
