Random Round-up No.1

Hi All.

I know I haven't been around much but wanted to keep you up to speed and answer some of your comments on my various social sites and thought this was the best way to start doing that!

New client - May Lindstrom
I’m thrilled to announce that I have just started working with the fabulous May Lindstrom and her equally beautiful brand. May has been largely a one-woman-operation from the start, and as she selectively expands her presence in the UK (about time!), I'm jumping on board to help ensure that her commitment to excellence is shared in the most intimate way possible on this side of the world. We are both VERY excited about the possibilities here - and I can't wait to dive in. May is expecting her second baby in September (Congratulations!) and it feels like the perfect time to join her small team.
We both want to share our evolving relationship in full transparency - there is a business element now that hasn't been there previously. This said - I will of course continue to talk about her products because the big love of those came first, and ultimately led to us wanting to do more together. But - I will add a disclosing statement at the bottom of any post on here just to keep things clear. My opinions are still strongly my own, (I know you expect no less) and the main disclosure page linked at the bottom of every post has been updated to reflect this change.  maylindstrom.com

Kate Somerville Goat Milk
I have both the old cream and the new formulation - I have asked KS if they want to comment on why they changed the formula and they're sending me a comment early next week. Will report back.

Teresa Tarmey
I finally got to Teresa's gorgeous new space in Notting Hill, which is lush, and well worth a visit if you're in the area. It's all in next week's vlog. www.teresatarmey.com

Teresa was obviously there, as was Dr Sam and a whole host of far trendier people than me. I shot off early as I'd been out of the house since 8am.

The Body Shop*

It was so lovely meeting so many of you this week in Birmingham, London and Brighton. I had a great time and the Body Shop were as always, lovely hosts.
I had a lot for requests for visits to other cities and we are working on something. As always I'll keep you updated.

Serozinc wins at CEW
Serozinc won 'Best New Skincare Treatment Product' at today's CEW Award and frankly that's down to you guys. If L'Oreal aren't saying 'Thank You' - I will. Good job chaps. Customer demand always shouts loudest!
This is what I'm on about if you're unsure: www.boots.com/La-Roche-Posay-Serozinc-Spray

kikki.k

Stationery addict Londoners: the kikki.k pop-up in Covent Garden is well worth a visit. Details here: www.kikki-k.com

goop
I'm still working my way through the products but I can tell you now that the night cream may be too rich for you if you're acnaic, but for the rest of you, it's sexytime. More info here: goop.com/goopskincare - that's not an affiliate link - which I only mention because my sources tell me when goop sell anything they take a nice fee. Interesting no? ;)

Knomo
If you haven't heard of Knomo bags and you travel for work and own a laptop/ipad/400 chargers et al, you may want to check them out. I have a few, and moaned at tweeted them earlier this week with some feedback (essentially - why are the majority of the really lovely girl's bags 14in? - I have a 15in macbook). The upshot is they have invited me to their showroom and frankly, I'm not leaving until they make us working-travelling-big laptop owning-women the bag we deserve. :) More info here: www.knomobags.com

And finally:

This affected me much more than I ever expected. Prince got me through those horrible teen years when I played 'When Doves Cry' on repeat and then in later, happier years when I perfected the Sheena 'walk-on' from the U Got The Look video. I got to see him live but sadly my kids didn't. So much of my life is tied up in his music and I still can't believe he's gone.

The NFL won't let you embed this video but this is the master at work: youtu.be/superbowl  - treat yourself.

  1. I've had a few people say they didn't like Prince and didn't really get it. And to those people I say Manic Monday. When you were mine. Nothing compares 2U. My favourite of his songs were not performed by him.

    1. It's not a 'blog' partnership, I'm working for her and helping her business. In case that wasn't clear. :) x

  3. I used up two bottles of Serozinc and it literally does nothing for me, it doesn't help with breakouts, it doesn't help with oiliness. I feel like most of LRP products are rather average.

    1. Serozinc actually causes me to break out in cystic acne because of the zinc! My luck- I have very very slow healing acne and had read taking zinc would help. Nope- big cystic acne every time!! However I gave the product to my sister and it worked well for her.

  4. I never got to see him live but, like you, When Doves Cry....I played my 12" on repeat. There have been too many losses this year &, last night, I posted I felt like a broken dove as I found I couldn't stop crying...then I spotted a video of Phil & Grant Mitchell dancing to Kung fu fighting & couldn't help smiling. Love the random round up - great to get some exciting news😀. Hope you're feeling lots better. I've only watched the first few minutes of this week's vlog (so far) but feel your pain as I saw my dentist this week & discovered I need dental surgery & a replacement filling! Have a great week☺

  5. Lots of exciting going on your end ,
I discovered you via the godess Ruth Crilly and you have up lifted my life so much and my skin!
Your vlog was so funny this week I actually needed to change my tena lady. If you ever go bust in the skin care industry (baby wipes take over the world) you definitely have a career in comedy you have such a sense of humour that fills my heart with laughter. Thank you for bringing me joy and advising me on skin care my skin has never looked so good, your blog posts and vlog remind me to get out there the world isn't gonna come find me under the duvet why I scroll through instagram. And as the tragic news this week reminds us all life is short and to tell the ones you love thank you for giving me a boost. I shall certainly hug my baby tighter tonight.
Don't ever stop being you Caroline you are a true blessing.
    Hope tooth situation improves

  7. Caroline,

I'm getting LASIK next week and was just told I AM NOT ALLOWED TO WASH MY FACE FOR A WEEK!!! Help!!

I can use anything on a cotton round or a wipe (I know your detest). I have dry skin and am located in the states.

Any suggestions for me? I can't go a whole week without cleansing my ugly mug!

    Best,
    Molly

    1. Hi Molly, I got LASIK a couple of years ago, and I just continued to use my cerave and cetaphil face washes. I would apply the gel to my face, rub it in with fingertips, and then remove with a very damp washcloth. Never got water in my eyes, and my skin was just fine. Congrats on LASIK, it's the best!

    2. I think you'll be fine if you do it as above. Sound advice. Damp but not wet flannel and avoid the eyes. I can't wait to get mine done!

  8. Very exciting news that you are working with May Lindstrom!! I am so sad about Prince :( I loved Doves Cry, Lets Go Crazy, etc., watched Purple Rain when it came out. He was so creative, and so mysterious. His music is on my phone and I run to his songs still.

  9. Wow! You have been busy! Congrats on working with May Lindstrom. My sister got Blue Cocoon for her birthday because of you! So many great songs of Prince that aren't known because of his disputes with the labels. So he just set up his own thing and sold to his die hard fans. Virtuoso musician, great songwriter, and a performer who could command a stage! His cover of Radiohead's "Creep" at Coachella is great, but I love that Superbowl performance. In the Rain! In heels! What a man! And his death prompted all night dance parties all over the US last night.

  10. As someone with a serious love for the OG Goat Milk cream, I was dismayed to say the least to hear that it's been reformulated. I haven't gotten to try the new formulation yet. I'm interested to hear Kate Somerville's dumb excuse *ahem* I mean, well thought out reasoning, for the reformulation. I'd really appreciate hearing your thoughts, Caroline, and possibly seeing a new review if you feel it's warranted. Does the reformulation live up to Hall of Fame status?

Off to watch Prince's Super Bowl halftime show.

  11. Excellent news about working with Knomo - one of my favourite brands! Agree the women's bags are too small. I have ended up buying their mens bags, but they are all safe, dark colours.

Very much looking forward to seeing what you come up with on this!

Congratulations on your new partnership with may lindstrom 👸👸🎉🎉🍹🍹 I cannot believe they have changed the formulation for ks goats milk moisturiser I have not yet seem a good review for the new formulation and I bet now this has changed it will have the snowball effect and changes start to happen to other products

  20. I was a huge fan of the KS GM moisturiser, I can't believe what has been done to it, the ingredient list looks so cheap and nasty now, I am scared to try the new formulation. I don't see how they can spin this positively.

  21. Very interested to hear your view on the new goat milk - I'm heading to the USA next week and was planning to stock up but very worried now!!

  22. Hi Caroline, I have a very first world dilemma. I count my budget to the last pennies and have finally got £85 to buy either Luna or Good Genes, I'm 37 and in chronic pain with lots of medications messing up my complexion which one would you advise please?

  23. Lovely to read you as always, Caroline !

I too is a superfan of Prince. I feel absolutely lost and empty now he's gone.
My son and I always listen to his music on the school-runs, we sing along together and it's our happy start of the day.
I feel so numb, it's unbelievable...

  27. Thank you Caroline, for the post on Prince. He was the consummate musician, transcending all boundaries to bring us all together in the music. He was the soundtrack to our lives all these years, and I will miss his music so much.

  28. I cannot seem to accept the fact that he's gone. I could never imagine to be affected this deeply by his passing. I never knew. Damn.

  29. Hi Caroline :) I have to tell you the truth: I'm back to your blog after exactly 6 months! It's been 6 wonderful months of having a good skin or lets say a 'better' skin ever since I started to follow the skincare routine you suggest on your blog. Right now I'm facing a dillemma which is either to stick to this routine and products or switch a few. I must say I dont break around my chin as often as I used to anymore (hormonal) and my skin feels okayish. I could use a bit of some miracle item which would make my indian skin eventoned (mission impossible?) So here goes my routine: am I cleanse with firstaidbeauty cleanser followd by firstaid facial pads- firstaid radiance serum (blue bottle you like) active moist dermalogica and on top SPF.
At night I cleanse my face with Paula's choice cleanser- followed by 2% BHA Paula's choice- Rose water- Adance night repair (Estee Lauder) and on top active moist (Dermalogica).
What do to? Stick or nay? Please please please help me out if you're reading this. Oh by the way I'm 25 and have typical yellowish indian skin with a darker chin and forehead, yes awful.

  32. So agree on the laptop bag dilemma! I too have a 15 inch and I had the hardest time finding a case for it. Eventually found a nice document case at Longchamp in gorgeous buttery (fuchsia!!!) leather that juuust fits; if I'm carrying the computer around town, the case goes into a simple canvas carry bag. Not the ideal solution, but oh well!
Love your vlogs and hope you can continue with them.

  33. Dear Caroline, I have just recently discovered your blog and I'm really enjoying making my way through it. I LOVE the cheat sheets, they are a Godsend! I am hoping you could give me some advise. I am turning 34 this year and have recently discovered lines on my forehead and around my eyes. I would really like to start doing anything I can to delay my skin aging. I have combination skin that can get oily very quickly from heavy moisturizer (Clinique’s Super Rescue Antioxidant Moisturiser made my look shiny during the day – even though I was only using it at night).
    My current skincare routine is:
Day: wash with Clinique Take The Day off cleansing balm; No. 7 Protect & Perfect Eye Cream; Ole Henriksen Truth Serum Vitamin C Collagen Booster; Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturizing Gel for Combination to Oily Skin Types + make-up.

Night: wash face with Clinique Take The Day off cleansing balm ; No. 7 Protect & Perfect Eye Cream; Ole Henriksen invigorating overnight resurfacing gel; No7 Beautiful Skin Night Cream for Normal / Oily Skin.

Is this routine ok? I also drink Perfectil Original vitamin tablets for skin, hair and nails. I was wondering if I should be using stronger products? I don’t want to spend a lot of money on products just for the brand but would spend the money on products if I knew they would make a difference, I just don’t know where to start? Please help. Thank you! :)

  34. Sorry I forgot to say: I also use: Pixi Glow Tonic after am & pm wash every day. Thanks!
