THE BODY SHOP TO DISCONTINUE WIPES

Brilliant news just in: The Body Shop have taken the huge decision to discontinue all wipes throughout their business. This comes into effect around October in the UK and early 2020 in the rest of the world. This is a very brave financial decision for The Body Shop, but a necessary one that will hopefully be replicated throughout the industry as a matter of environmental urgency.

Linda Campbell, UK Managing Director at The Body Shop says:

“At The Body Shop we’ve discontinued our face wipes and they’ll start disappearing from UK stores as early as October this year.

A perfect alternative to our face wipes is the Camomile Sumptuous Cleansing Butter which removes makeup while cleansing your skin. It works brilliantly when paired with the 100% organic cotton muslin cloth. Using a muslin cloth is a great option as it can be washed and reused again and again. To give your cloth ultimate longevity, we recommend rinsing it thoroughly after every use and allow it to air dry naturally.”

In the meantime, if you must use wipes, remember to bin them, don’t flush them. And no, biodegradable aren’t always perfect: some further reading material is listed for you below, but how’s this for starters?

‘Nice-Pak, the huge US manufacturer originally founded by wet wipe inventor Arthur Julius, produces more than 125 billion wipes a year, just by themselves. (KFC Lemon wipes anyone)

To give you a sense of scale, if an average wet wipe is roughly a 6-inch (15cm) square, then one year’s worth of wet wipes, from just that one company, would stretch to the moon and back more than 24 times.’
