The Ordinary Haircare | AD

As you will know, I love a bit of The Ordinary, the Squalane Cleanser was in my Best of 2021. So, when I heard about their new haircare range I knew I had to try it.

Step 1: Sulphate 4% Cleanser for Hair & Body
Unlike most other brands, The Ordinary have included sulphates in their shampoo and describe it as evidence-based as opposed to trend-led, which is something I can definitely get on board with.We all know I am quite vocal about disliking SLS but The Ordinary have produced a Sulphate 4% Cleanser that contains SLES-2, a milder sulphate that has been incorporated into the formula to be gentle on the skin. The molecular structure of SLES-2 is designed to provide effective cleansing at a lower concentration to minimise concerns with potential irritation associated with the use of sulphates. Having used this shampoo, it comes with the lovely lather of a traditional shampoo, but without the irritation I normally get. It is important to remember to look after your scalp (it is skin, after all). This is a gentle yet effective cleanser that removes dirt, grease and product residue but without stripping the hair, leaving you with a clean but comfortable scalp.
Apply this to wet hair, lather and rinse (well duh).

Step 2: Behentrimonium Chloride 2% Conditioner
This moisturises the hair without leaving it feeling heavy. Your hair is more manageable after use, and this conditioner helps to improve the feel and appearance of the hair with one use. This conditioner combined with the Sulphate 4% Cleanser gives the hair a lovely shine, making it look and feel healthier. The key to a great hair day is having a healthy scalp.
I massage this into wet hair and leave it on while I crack on with my body, and then rinse.

Step 3: Natural Moisturising Factors + HA for Scalp
This is a post-wash scalp treatment that improves scalp hydration and protects the scalps skin barrier. The water-light texture moisturises the scalp, without leaving it feeling sticky and weighing down the roots. The formula is inspired by the Natural Moisturising Factors + HA facial moisturiser (which I also love, it is a great, solid moisturiser suitable for all skins) and mimics the function of NMF and hyaluronic acid that is naturally produced within the skin, and scalp.
This is a leave-in treatment that is best applied onto dry hair and I apply a few drops before bed, massage through and crash out.
