VLOG WEEK 19 - L.A. Part 2

Part 2 includes a little shopping, some rushed packing and Gen Beauty - including the mini facial I did for Ipsy's Periscope while I was there.

Hope you enjoy! :)

Pixi very kindly paid for my flight and hotel to facilitate my appearance at their blogger event and Gen Beauty but there was no requirement or obligation at all to review or mention Pixi in any content or promotional way.

  1. laughing at the shower and shave, as my dad (ex-navy) also says that but he adds another s word to the front regarding toileting and I still say that too ;-)

  2. Soooo incredibly jelly of my former colleague Katie Welch at Hourglass who got to meet you! And also, I would seriously fly to LA for Gen Beauty next year just to meet you, so I wasn't shocked anyone would drive in the rain across the city! #saddo

  3. Do you recall what makeup they used on you for your Hourglass makeover? Just lovely!

  4. Just been to SPACE NK today. Every time I go there, the lovely young girls who work there say, 'I've got that product, it's wonderful.' I've shopped at Guildford, London and Bath over the years, different assistants each time. In Guildford a couple of years ago I brought a product that was supposed to add hair to my eyebrows. The assistant had perfect eyebrows - she was 25 odd - and swore that it was because of that product. Product did nothing for my 56 year old eye brows ... I felt conned & stupid for believing her. So today was the last time I've bought anything there. I was in the Bath store, with daughter, selected about 300 GBP goods, but just left it all there when the shop assistants won't leave you alone (I'm tired, it's Saturday, I want to spend time with my daughter - not the assistant) and says 'I've got that, it's wonderful' - she clearly had never had it at all. I asked her properly about it and she really hadn't. Looks like they are trained to lie. Not clever.

Excuse rant ... No one's probably reading this anyway! But in case you are, thank you Caroline for your blog. My skin is great and I've had compliments and also passed on my source of facial wisdom (you). Thank you very much :)

    1. Totally agree with you and you are not alone. Last time I`ve been to Bath Space NK store all the asistants were busy doing their hair and make up and me with a plan to try and buy a foundation for sure left the store without any purchase and with the thought of never coming back :( Space nk needs to sort it out...

    2. Be glad you're not getting hunted down by phone by a SpaceNK saleswoman who served you once 18 months ago and insists on ringing during work hours, even after being told not to ring at all.

My favorite was being told I would get better results with Natura Bisse Essential Shock products than a laser treatment.

    3. Space NK really can be awful - patronising, snooty staff who look you over and make assumptions based on their guesses re age/purchasing power. Will not give out samples (I know they have them as a kinder assistant once gave me quite a few), though surely I'm more likely to buy that expensive serum if I've actually tried it? They need to rethink, plenty of online retailers out there nowadays...

    4. With you all on SpaceNK. Excited at being in one in London as none in home city only to be studiously ignored. And I tried the shop twice. Never bought a thing from them but spent a fortune in Selfridges as there were some lovely and helpful shop assistants.

  7. What a trip! What foundation did they use at Hourglass and what did you think? Been eyeing up their products lately. Be curious to know your opinion on the skincare benefits in their makeup range. If you use spf before your makeup would that not negate any skincare properties in their range penetrating through or does it still have an effect?

  8. Would have been so cool to bump into you in my hotel elevator! I wish I was there. I've adopted wearing a bright lip since I think it looks so nice when you do your makeup. Honestly, I prefer when you do your own makeup to when you have it done by others. Although Hannah with Bobbi brown did a nice job and has a sort of signature look when she does makeup.

  12. Hi Caroline, I would love if you could please do a video demonstration of your skincare routine. We got a glimpse on this vlog! Also an "in flight skin care essentials" post would be great too :) Love your blog and all your advice is brilliant. Many thanks, Caroline

    1. Caroline has referenced her in-flight routine a lot. You can search her site very easily via Google and there's a "travel kit" label on the tag cloud at right.

  13. Your LA vlogs were great! I'm so sorry about the jet lag/ lack of proper tea/ migraine issues you had:( They can really put a damper on what should otherwise be a good time. I especially liked the facial you did for Periscope. Is there any way you could post the whole mini facial demo at regular speed? I'd love to see it and really appreciate it.

  14. Would it possible for you to post a full on cleansing, moisturise , treatment video ... As per the LA blog but In normal time not speeded up (is speeded even a word 😳) ...loving the vlogs thank you xx

  15. I'm sorry but the part about "I've just done loads of acid" made me laugh - my skin is red because of skincare, not drugs!

Thank you so much Caroline, I only discovered you recently and since adopting your routine (and falling in love with Pixi Glow Tonic) I have got rid of my adult acne for the first time ever :) Katy x

  16. Hi caroline!
Question about the pixi glow pads...new purchase after finding them at target! Yayy!
It says to "rinse off after 3 min to neutralize the peel." Can I leave it on like reg. Acid overnight?
    What do you recommend? Thanks
